Thank you @AgencyFund for the support - and now happy to retweet to add that we just got a revision requested (R&R) from the Journal of Political Economy!🔥
Reading the feedback and loving how the refs and editor valued that this research was implemented and tested repeatedly at scale with government partners - and in the end led to real tangible impact *helping thousands of kids get into college* at almost no cost 🚀
IMO our results are likely a lower bound on how much information frictions affect the performance of assignment mechanisms, even DA!
How important is access to information when making life choices?
A recent working paper by @tlarroucau , @ChrisANeilson , @_irios_ , and @anaisfabre_econ shows that 40% of students in Chile aren't applying to their preferred colleges and majors, largely due to lack of information.
And students from disadvantaged backgrounds are significantly more likely to make these mistakes.
To support students at this crucial time in their lives, @ConsiliumBots has partnered with the Chilean Ministry of Education on a large-scale field experiment.
Students get access to real-time personalized information about colleges, through tools like personalized websites and Whatsapp.
In 2023 the intervention doubled the matching probability for unmatched students and tripled enrollment likelihood for initially unmatched students.
