What if the boundaries between things don't actually exist—and we've invented them?
Even numbers might not be fundamental to reality.
I explored these questions with CERN particle physicist @DanielWhiteson on Seekers Mindtalks.

@LKrauss1@OriginsProject Thanks for the physics lessons.
Are there four spatial dimensions in Minkowski space? If so, is there no time dimension? Perhaps I misunderstood.
Spacetime Unified: Lect. 6 in @OriginsProject Physics for Everyone podcast premieres 10/19 9:30 am PDT. The unification of E&M, combined with the Galileo's insights, led inevitably to a totally new view of space & time. Not as it is usually taught. https://t.co/nld37gr4xx
Why consciousness needs a body (with emotions). The great neuroscientist Antonio Damasio outlines his theory to explain the hard problem of consciousness.

We’ve just posted a new Unbaffled video for you to get stuck into: https://t.co/UWNCCEhRcl
This one's a deep dive into the discovery of quarks and gluons.
It’s really gratifying that having only posted it last night it’s already had 100k views. Thank you.
@martinmbauer Given that there are only three spatial dimensions, does this mean that theories predicting a greater number of dimensions are incorrect?
🎇 Good news! 🎇 The kind people at @BBSJournal have made the new collection on "Conscious AI and biological naturalism" completely #OpenAccess for a limited period. This include the target article, all 50 commentaries (many of which disagree with me), and my response. Go to the link and click 'save pdf': https://t.co/6ZFzHrUsUR
For easier ways into the debate, try my @NoemaMag essay on "The Mythology of Conscious AI" (winner of the 2025 @berggruenInst Essay Prize), and this 2026 main-stage @TEDTalks:

A few years ago, we released a special issue titled “The Unraveling of Space-Time.” We cover black holes, holograms, “alien algebra,” “pregeometry,” and newly discovered “paleophysics” that could replace our usual picture of particles moving and interacting in space-time. “I think that Darwin’s ideas undo many of the biggest problems in philosophy. So many philosophers keep hammering away trying to find the essence of this or that when Darwin has shown us that nothing of any interest has an essence. It’s gradualism all the way.”
—Daniel Dennett
'Nothing' is an absence so absolute that even defining it becomes problematic.
We might imagine ‘nothing’ as the void, the empty vacuum of space, but in contemporary physics 'nothing' is nowhere to be found. In quantum field theory, even the vacuum of space is teeming with quantum fluctuations, and in general relativity, empty space still retains a minimum energy.
But to be true nothingness, our possible candidate would need to lack time, space, matter, energy, and relation to the rest of the universe.
Should we conclude that 'nothing' is an impossibility, and if so, that 'something' is inevitable? Or can we uncover the true nature of nothing, and with it, other mysteries of the universe as well?
