You don't have to commit your entire life to optimism, just try it on for a week. Start thinking "what if it all worked out?" and "what a time to be alive!". Then compare your state of mind to the week before filled with pessimism and doomer nonsense.
Dear Nigerians in Canada, if you must finance a car, please think beyond the monthly payment.
I honestly don’t understand financing a $60,000 car with a $500 down payment, then spending the next 5 or 7 years working multiple jobs just to keep up with the payments, insurance, fuel and maintenance.
If you can afford it, put down a reasonable deposit and keep the financing period as short as your income comfortably allows. Don’t let a small monthly payment fool you into thinking the car is affordable.
Your car should make your life easier, not turn you into a slave to your bills.
You came to Canada to build a better life. Don’t spend your best years working three jobs to finance a car you could have bought more modestly.
“People are now dying of loneliness because all their children have gone abroad to seek better life. Parents cannot even carry their grandkids for maybe 4-5yrs., if they’re lucky. - So what we now have is WhatsApp families.”

This is not even £100.
Called a company for microwave removal + install.
Hourly rate: over $500 CAD.
Hung up. Drove to Canadian Tire. Bought tools. Did it myself the same day.
That labour bill will eat your money before you even settle.
This microwave was over 2 years old. We complained to the store. They called Samsung. Provide Brand new unit. No extra payment.
That’s one of the real differences between buying electronics here and buying in Nigeria.
Learn the skill. Protect your money.
Know your consumer rights.
Is it just me, but when I see a dude get in the passenger side and his wife drives, I just get weird vibes. I mean I get it occasionally, but I think in 20 years with my wife she’s driven about 15 min.
One topic people don’t discuss enough is borrowing money when relocating abroad.
Let’s say a friend borrowed ₦5 million from another friend in 2020, shortly after relocating to Canada.
The lender was also preparing to relocate to the UK.
At the time, roughly:
₦5m ≈ C$17,600
₦5m ≈ £10,245
There was no agreement that the money would be repaid in CAD or GBP. The agreement was simply: “I’m borrowing ₦5 million, and I’ll pay you back.”
Now fast-forward to 2024.
The borrower has settled successfully, started working and is financially comfortable enough to repay the loan.
But the naira has dramatically depreciated.
If the lender had kept the ₦5m and converted it to cad, in 2020, they would have had approximately C$17,600.
By 2024, those same amounts would be worth roughly:
C$17,600 → ₦18.85m
£10,245 → ₦19.3m
So what is fair?
And this is where it gets interesting.
The borrower benefited from having access to the money in 2020, while the lender potentially lost the opportunity to move that money abroad when the naira was stronger.
There was no currency clause in the agreement. They are very good friends.
So what would YOU consider fair repayment? ₦5m, ₦18.85m, or ₦19.3m?
I’m genuinely curious about this one. 😂
i work in tech and use these models for hours a day. i have friends in finance, sharp people, high earners, who tell me they’ve never opened one and can’t see the point.
that gap is the strangest thing about this whole period. inside the bubble everyone thinks the ground is moving under them. thirty minutes away in the same city people are working exactly as they did in 2021
If you’re married, quit focusing on all the anti-marriage propaganda & wakeup to the luxuries you have:
MARRIAGE IS THE BEST!!
• A giant hug that resets the whole day.
• Nightly sleepovers with your favorite person. Clothes optional.
•Walking in the door to someone who’s glad you’re home & interested in your day
•Inside jokes that make zero sense to anyone but you two!
•Long walks together surrounded by beauty.
• Someone who prays with you & for you.
• Dreaming out loud about the future.
• Being fully known… & loved anyway.
• Building a home & creating a life & legacy together -- not just paying a mortgage.
• Growing old with your best friend.
Marriage isn’t just “work.”
It’s one of the greatest gifts on earth.
Protect it.
Pursue it.
Don’t get so busy surviving that you forget you’re living the dream!!
Bring back that 3rd date energy, show gratitude to your spouse, & embrace all the fun marriage gives you!! 🔥❤️
So many people are about to self-retire from our industry as a result of LLMs completing changing how coding is done.
They hate it. They hate prompting, managing agents, reviewing. They want it to go back to the way it was.
They're realizing it's never going back.
Vibe coding made me respect developers even more.
