Amendment 19

Citizen, teacher, outdoor enthusiast. "It is better to light a candle than curse the darkness." -Eleanor Roosevelt

[Amendment 19 @amendment19]

"We are all full of weakness and errors; let us mutually pardon our follies... Tolerance has never brought civil war; intolerance has covered the earth with carnage… Fanaticism is to superstition what delirium is to fever, what rage is to anger...."

Great 🧵on the latest attempt to recover the remaining classified docs

[Harry Litman @harrylitman]

An explainer on what seems to be going on with the hearing yesterday, and the judge's decision not to hold Team Trump in contempt.
1. It seems clear that the DOJ has good info that not all docs have been returned. The reports of what was missing when the latest two were found

@WBAfaiL2022 My standard advice for this situation:

Take a break! The shitshow will still be here when you get back. Read some books, go for a walk. Turn off the news. Nothing wrong with unplugging for a little while. The 24/7 news cycle is BAD for mental health - take care of you.

[AFRICAN & BLACK HISTORY @AfricanArchives]

On this day in 1969, activist and chairman of the Black Panther Party Fred Hampton, was assassinated by Chicago police and the FBI at just 21 years old.

William O'Neal, an FBI informant, infiltrated the Black Panthers and set up Fred Hampton for $300.

@MadelynnSobes You do need to balance work & life, but lane changes generate passive compounding income for the rest of your career. Best of luck! You can do it!!

[Matt Binder @MattBinder]

all the why Elon Musk bought Twitter theories are overthinking it.

it’s simple.

Musk is in a right wing filter bubble. he bought Twitter believing their problems were real & that others felt the same

this is what happens when you have a lot of money & live in fantasy land

the whole “cat litter for furries in classrooms” hoax is so bleak once I found out what the bucket of cat litter and other supplies was actually for

Leave Twitter because of mismanagement and a resentful owner who seemingly wants to destroy it? Buddy, I’m a Cubs fan.

[Seva @SevaUT]

we criticize hollywood for lazy tropes but our two main antagonists right now is a former kgb agent with a penchant for poisoning and an emerald mine heir who wants to live on mars. if these were bond villains they’d be dismissed as caricature

For the love of God, pundits: Long voting lines aren’t enthusiasm. They’re suppression.

JUST IN: Illinois passes a historic workers' rights initiative, becoming the first state to enshrine protections against anti-union “right-to-work” laws in the state constitution.

Before the next election, you might want to find a better way to poll anyone under the age of 30 since they would rather pick up a pinless grenade than a call from an unknown number.

Y'all.

[Eugene Mirman @EugeneMirman]

I know a lot about writing comedy, so I bought a giant, unprofitable shoe store. I fired many employees and decided to charge Stephen King $8 a month to come to my store. Things are going badly and I believe it is the fault of a left-leaning powerful clown in upstate NY.

You can log off for the night. This garbage website will still be here tomorrow.

[Suspiciously Nice Prof @steph_teasley]

Right wing media: "And they're getting students to read these books! Books that should be banned!"

Professors (clicking pens and poised to take notes): "Did they mention *how* they got all these students to do the reading?"

[Doomscrolling Reminder Bot @doomscroll_bot]

hi, are you doomscrolling? This website continues to be full of bad opinions and will still be here tomorrow. You still deserve time to rest and recover.

[Dalai Lama @DalaiLama]

As soon as I wake every morning, I remind myself that all human beings are the same as me—we all want to be happy. I resolve to use my life to ensure that other beings are happy. It’s compassion that brings about peace of mind, not anger and hatred.
