Nagercoil Corporation DMK councillor Ramakrishnan allegedly misused ESI benefits, worth Rs 28.7 lakh, meant for sanitation workers of his firm.
In a recent letter to the Mayor and Commissioner, the Tirunelveli Sub-Regional Office of Employees’ State Insurance Corporation said KS Ramakrishnan failed to pay the dues despite repeated notices and opportunities.
According to ESIC, the ‘Osai Sutru Soolal’ men’s self-help group, linked to his family and involved in municipal contract works, owes Rs 28,71,926 towards employer contribution under the Code on Social Security, 2020.
The Corporation has been requested to assist in recovering the amount as per statutory provisions. Efforts to reach Ramakrishnan for comment were unsuccessful.

River Thamirabarani in Tirunelveli now. The situation remains same for over 2 decades. In Tirunelveli Corporation alone, large volumes of untreated sewage are discharged into river at more than 15 locations.
During my election coverage over the past month, only few raised the issue of cleaning Thamirabarani.

Based on this clip - Mr S Ve Shekhar seems to ask why the Vilathikulam, Thoothukudi brutal rape and murder victim went behind shrubs in a forest area - the cops cant come there and shine a light everywhere.

The girl reportedly went to relieve herself - something people without access to toilets and bathrooms do.

Young girls and women being sexually assaulted while they go to relieve themselves is routine in India - something men who can just unzip and pee as and when they want wherever they want safely without fear for the physical injury, will never understand.

Four-year-old Siva Yazhini is no more. Her family has received her body. If the prosecution is strong, the drunken car owner who killed her could get 10-year jail-term (culpable homicide not amounting to murder). I hv heard, in some countries, drunk driving killings are treated as murder in rare cases.

With the Assembly elections fast approaching, the DMK government’s unfulfilled promises are beginning to unsettle its allies. During Chief Minister M K Stalin’s recent visit to Tenkasi, Congress MLA Palani Nadar appeared visibly upset on stage. Speaking to reporters later, he said, “The Chief Minister had promised to implement the Rettaikulam Kalvai scheme during the 2021 election campaign in Alangulam, but it remains unfulfilled. I now fear seeking votes from the people. Farmers scold me, saying we lied to them and conspired to deceive everyone. I am deeply hurt — that is why I chose to speak to the media,” he said.
