The Bennu samples contain amino acids — the building blocks of proteins — including 14 of the 20 that life uses to create proteins here on Earth. In addition, the samples contain all five of the nucleobases that encode genetic information in DNA and RNA.

Asteroid 2024 MK has just reached its closest point to Earth. It is between 120 and 260 m wide and was discovered only 13 days ago, highlighting the need to continue improving our ability to detect asteroids in our cosmic neighbourhood.
🌠 Fireball update!
It appears that this object was a small piece of a comet.
We estimate that it flew over Spain and Portugal travelling at ~45 km/s before burning up over the Atlantic Ocean at an altitude of ~60 km.
The likelihood of any meteorites being found is very low.
The journey to Apophis continues!
Data indicates that @NASA’s OSIRIS-APEX (formerly OSIRIS-REx) spacecraft completed a 2-month operation that brought it 25 million miles closer to the Sun than it was designed to function.

"We put the [Navigation Doppler Lidar for Precise Velocity and Range Sensing] as a tech demo and as a test, we weren't planning to use it... for the actual mission... but now we are. So, basically, it is the primary system to help provide the velocity and altitude information." — Space Tech Mission Directorate Deputy Associate Administrator Prasun Desai

TOUCHDOWN! The #OSIRISREx sample capsule landed at the Utah Test and Training Range at 10:52am ET (1452 UTC) after a 3.86-billion mile journey. This marks the US's first sample return mission of its kind and will open a time capsule to the beginnings of our solar system.
Our @NASAWebb telescope detected carbon dioxide and methane in the atmosphere of a planet orbiting a faraway sun. The planet might have an ocean, but more observations are needed to determine whether it could support life: https://t.co/J8ub8PqwMG
Our #PlanetaryDefense mission includes finding, tracking, and better understanding near-Earth #asteroids to confirm they don't pose a collision risk to our planet. 🌎
There's a lot out there, and here's what we've found so far: https://t.co/23RJWoTtWZ
Today, I'm celebrating my 11th landiversary! 🥳
In this last year, I’ve surpassed 30km, spotted another meteorite, entered a new quadrant, and encountered my toughest climb yet.
I've got more science-ing to do - so here's to more exploring on the Red Planet!
