What UFBU said about 5 day banking?
A high-level committee of IBA and UFBU will be formed specifically on the issue of declaring the remaining Saturdays as holidays. The committee will examine all possible alternatives, engage with all stakeholders and work out a solution at the earliest.
Day End of #BlackSunday
Under Instruction of DFS (Finance Ministry), Banks sent Multiple SMS to Come Branch on Sunday.
Innocent Bank Customers get disturbed by such SMS sent in midnight, asking in Branches, Why you called Us!
Customers were in Panic.
🖤 *BLACK SUNDAY — A PAINFUL REMINDER*
Black Sunday — a deeply tragic and heartbreaking incident that has shaken us to the core.
We have lost two of our colleagues, who were travelling on a Sunday in connection with their official duties. Their untimely demise is not merely a matter of grief; it compels us to reflect on the working conditions and the balance between professional responsibilities and personal life.
5-Day Banking is not merely a demand. It is fundamentally about work-life balance, the well-being of bank employees, family time and a more humane working environment.
Comrades, a mere “RIP” cannot be the end of our responsibility. We have lost colleagues who worked alongside us. Let their memory, and our respect for them, become a source of strength and solidarity.
*Let us therefore dedicate our three-day strike from 28–30 September to the memory of our departed colleagues. Let our unity, discipline and collective action become a meaningful tribute to them.*
Let every colleague stand united.
Let every colleague contribute wholeheartedly to the success of the strike.
Let our collective strength carry our voice forward.
Our unity is our strength.
Our solidarity is our tribute.
Our struggle must continue with determination.
🕯️ A heartfelt tribute to our departed colleagues.
May their souls rest in peace.
Om Shanti Shanti
Thank you, Hon'ble Prime Minister, for recognizing the contributions of Public Sector Banks. While your words motivate us, today’s Budget has left us disappointed, as we were hoping for the much-needed #5DaysBanking.

Today’s Budget brought relief to middle-class families, but bankers are still waiting, probably because we don’t count as humans—just walking calculators with ties. While the rest of India enjoys #5DaysWorking, bankers are stuck in a time loop, living the same Monday six times a week. Maybe we should apply for government office jobs or join the IT sector just to remember what a weekend feels like.
We manage government schemes, drive financial inclusion, handle endless paperwork, and still get treated like we’ve asked for the moon when all we want is two days off. Is it too much to expect a work-life balance, or is that an exclusive club we’re not invited to? Maybe the Budget forgot us because we blend in so well with the office walls.
But here’s the thing—we’re done waiting. We stand united. We’re ready to strike. Because #5DaysBanking isn’t a luxury, it’s basic decency.

Thank you, Hon'ble Prime Minister, for recognizing the contributions of Public Sector Banks. While your words motivate us, today’s Budget has left us disappointed, as we were hoping for the much-needed #5DaysBanking.
Despite working tirelessly to serve citizens, even with staff shortages and growing challenges, Public Sector Bankers are still bound to a 6-day work week. Private banks enjoy a much higher employee-to-customer ratio, yet we continue to manage the bulk of India’s financial services. All we ask for is one day of rest to recharge, reduce stress, and improve productivity.
An agreement between the IBA and Banking Unions on 8th March 2024 had paved the way for #5DaysBanking to become a reality. Yet, today's Budget has left us with empty hands.
The nation needs well-rested bankers to build a thriving economy. We still hope for a future where our work is recognized through action, not just words.
#5DaysBanking

Bank employees are the backbone of the economy, yet they continue to face immense workload, unregulated working hours, and mounting stress. Despite repeated assurances, the commitment to implement #5DaysBanking remains unfulfilled. It’s time for @ChiefIba to honor its written promise in letter and spirit. A healthy work-life balance is not just an employee demand but a necessity for better productivity and efficient banking services. @DFS_India must act to ensure bankers get the fair working conditions they deserve!

Dear @nsitharaman Ji,
Today’s Budget brought relief to the middle class, but what about the true drivers of the economy—bankers? Public Sector Banks are the backbone of India’s growth, yet we continue to work six days a week while sectors like the RBI, Central Government, IT, and Stock Market enjoy a #5DaysBanking.
We seek just two days of rest for better work-life balance, health, and productivity. India’s path to a $5 trillion economy needs not just growth but a workforce that isn’t exhausted.
#5DaysBanking isn’t a demand—it’s a necessity.

Being a banker in 2025, I’m seriously considering doing business under a pseudonym. With these oppressive tax rates and zero incentives for hard work, I’ll end up below the poverty line in 10 years.
Why punish honest earners?
