Ballykean Estate Organic Farm in Wicklow is committed to rearing top quality organic cattle and pigs, while preserving an estate that dates back to 1640
@SteveMYorks Built in 1760! So a challenge to get the builder back to change it!! Basement is partial - with only front and back having external space. Sides below ground so wet walls unavoidable. That’s why I was thinking tanking might improve things and could not (?) make it worse.
@SteveMYorks Thanks for that. But i was assuming if basement has a random rubble wall that’s below ground externally with a high water table you really can’t stop the water - other than enormous amounts of ventilation I suppose.
@shacklej Do the plantains have any health benefits? Can cattle get too much of them? Asking as we have heavy ground and in some areas plantains dominate. Not sure they are great for silage either.
@EwanBent@WHAssociation I have been trying to find a source for Eucalyptus glaucescens or nitens in Ireland or the UK for last few months with no luck. Any suggestions?
@johnfseery@teagasc Really interesting. Be great if Teagasc could provide some figures on the cost to see if this approach would make financial sense given organic seed cost/mulching etc and opportunity cost of land out of production for 1 year?
