@MrNQDC@TaxAlphaInsider@alphaarchitect In terms of taxes, simplify has the ctap product that speaks spy on top of their ETF cta using 13 month bullet swaps. Of course I think you deal with the expense ratio of cta plus ctap plus the swap fee. Adds up but also seems like good product innovation
@ptuomov@nkblitz It's like business owners buying equipment and trucks to save on taxes as if that's the goal instead of compounding wealth (obviously a big difference if the equipment or vehicle is already something being considered before taxes).
@NickNemo17@Ezbake0ven If nothing else changed then it would net to zero (minus the borrow fee). There's so much going on with the price you can't break out the price change from div by itself from other factors affecting the stock
@orrdavid Love can lean one party over another on axiomatic values (you might just really favor equality of outcome over the fairness of individual choices that aggregate into inequality for example), it seems to me the managerial class leans left cuz that's what other educated ppl do
@BadwaterTim@brithume Depreciation is not an issue or writing off actual expenses. Step up basis is fair criticism though I'm sure people would be pissed if their own inheritance was taxed on the gains
@randomroger The etfs evaluated are long only tho. Might need something like aqr juiced long short market neutral factor to concentrate enough for the dar to make a difference to just the massive equity beta that's moving most of the portfolio
@CashflowAcct@OptimizedPort Then why the obsession with income? If you want a factor target it regardless of the dividend. If you want cash sell the asset. The income factor is entirely a mental accounting trick. I guess if that helps you keep the course behaviorally that's irrationally rational
@CashflowAcct@OptimizedPort I think it's because his only criticism is that paying out a dividend just makes a taxable event out of moving money from the corp bank account to yours. Many investors assume not selling shares means not reducing the port value. I hear this everyday from ppl
@orrdavid I'm generally deferential to the police if there's some ambiguity or threat. Today I felt it was a clear overreach, especially given the spokespersons claiming intent to murder or domestic terrorist claim (lol). Do agree on the points about confusion. A lot of righteous anger
@StolpyStolps@TheDrewFeldman Yeah I don't mean like the rule itself can be bent. I mean there's still a significant diversification benefit for most (eg most would benefit greatly if they have concentrated positions)
@mammabeartrader @holcomb2012 @unusual_whales It is pretty simple as described however to be mostly practical you want no funds in a traditional IRA other than the converted amounts (you can have pretax funds in a traditional 401k but not in a traditional IRA without causing a headache at tax time)
