Development of a Credit-based Electricity Access Scheme for Smart Energy Consumers: Uganda produces a significant amount of electricity, yet many families and small businesses face sudden disconnections due to irregular incomes. To solve this, Kawuma Latiif and Balinda Roland Mujungu from @SorotiUniversi1 propose creating a solution taking the opportunity presented through our UCC Research Support to Academia (Lot 1).

We are proud to fund their project: an intelligent, AI-powered system that allows users to "borrow electricity and pay later" via digital payment platforms. By assessing payment history and consumption patterns, this system ensures that homes and businesses stay powered during short-term financial hardships. This initiative supports Uganda's Digital Transformation Agenda and shows that local research can drive financial inclusion and economic growth.

Congratulations to the research team from @SorotiUniversi1. We look forward to seeing this idea come to life and transform lives.
