I think Muse will beat ChatGPT and Claude for mainstream users.
It all comes down to IG data.
Muse fulfills a need that Claude / OpenAI can’t match.
For regular users, both are a Google Search replacement.
But Muse is IG search on steroids and soon people are going to realize how insanely useful this is.
Google ranks based on popularity.
IG data is billions of creators posting stuff they're experts in, in their very niche fields.
I asked for trendy bars in NY and Muse returned reels from creators on the ground. No other AI can do this.
Muse can even curate a feed. I wonder what’s next for that -- it’s already got me spending more time on the app than I expected.
Very bullish.
Peter Thiel on why the name of your startup is predictive of success or failure
“This is a slight aesthetic thing that I believe in very strongly: the names of companies are often very predictive of future failure or success.”
PayPal and Napster are the first example Thiel gives:
“PayPal was a very friendly name — it was the friend that helps you pay. Napster was a bad name — you nap some music, you nap a kid. That sounds like a bad thing to be doing, and it’s no wonder the government then comes in and shuts the company down within a few years.”
“You want to be very careful of how you name companies,” Thiel warns founders. In the context of the sharing economy, he likes Airbnb more than Uber:
“Airbnb sounds very innocent like this virtual bread and breakfast — this very light, non-threatening sort of company. Uber sounds like a bad name from Germany sometime in the 1930s. What are you exactly above? Maybe the law? This is probably something that, again from a regulatory perspective, I think Airbnb is a vastly better name than Uber.”
And on the social networking side, Thiel likes Facebook more than MySpace:
“You can say that all these social networks involve both reading and writing… Over time, reading dominates writing. Facebook was about learning about people around you — about their real identities at Harvard. MySpace started among wannabe actors in Los Angeles, and it was about them coming up with fictional narratives around themselves and a lot of other people in LA who are generally like that. And because reading dominates writing, Facebook would ultimately dominate MySpace. There’s a certain version where the whole arc of the company and the whole product arc was implicit in the names.”

I hate that people throw around "slop" for everything AI-made. Creating is fun again for me. Some skip the polish, who cares, they still built something.
The text book industry wants you to think that AI learning is an inferior shortcut to books/ebooks/multiple choice quizzes on computers/printouts.
The teaching tools should be AI. The learning tools should be AI based. The grading system should be AI based.
Regurgitating an answer for a % grade is old fashioned.
AI certifying that you actually learned Calculus and are ready for the next level is much better signal than any % score.
for how much people complain and obsess over everything going wrong, imagine telling someone just 20 years ago that we’d have:
- cars without pedals or steering wheels driving themselves
- reusable rockets
- AGI that can reason, control a computer and do work for you
- miracle fat drugs and personalized cancer vaccines
anyone from almost any prior point in history would think we live in an age of miracles
and somehow we got used to it
@Polymarket the school system is a dying one and has been for a very long time. Education should be custom fit to the individual and their strengths. And now trying to sweep the inevitable under the rug.
@Polymarket I would have died to have a real AI tutor, not unlimited chat but someone with infinite patience and time, the public school system was so bad you’d be lucky to get 5 minutes a day of hands on time with a teacher you like..
I remember this old video of Zuck saying something like:
When smartphones came, they did not replace laptops.
I think the same will probably apply to wearables.
They may become a new interface, but they will not fully replace the phone.
No I agree. But they took legal action against Clawdbot for even sounding like Claude. You are right that they can’t trademark that model name though.
But nevertheless I would say the more important thing is that Haiku has heavy brand association with Anthropic. Everyone in the ai space associates the name “Haiku” with Anthropic/Claude.
If you’re trying to create something legit, I would pick a name that you can own as unique.
But keep up the good work.
@TaylorCSargent I’m not convinced space defense produces one new mega prime. The winners will likely be the weirdly specific subsystem companies that become impossible to replace
