Who knows if Twitter will still be around in two weeks, so I'm starting #GivingTuesday early: please help us make biking in San Francisco safer and more pleasant by donating to @sfbike 🚲 https://t.co/9wVQbdRia7
astonishing how whenever you go to the post office the queue in front of you is made up almost entirely of people who appear to have ended up at the post office by accident, have in fact never visited a post office before, and have no idea what they want out of the experience
@davalangator@ASFleischman My point is, if bystanders said that, that supports the prosecution's argument that he was applying the kind of force that would have killed even a non-fragile person
@HellaSanFran@SFMTA_Muni All of these are already car-free (JFK, that little stub of 7th Ave near Lincoln) or have separated bike/ped paths next to the road (Panhandle, Kezar). No changes to the status quo in the piece of the map you screenshotted here
@humantransit@SFMTA_Muni A citizens initiative tried to increase taxes on TNC and AV companies (not a tax per ride but a tax on the companies) and it passed, but a competing business tax overhaul measure got more votes and invalidated it
If you wanna know why California has a housing shortage you can observe all the local politicians having a five alarm meltdown at the idea of a building going up in an expensive urban beach neighborhood that has built virtually nothing for decades
@Mtclai @dominionvoting @SFElections Hmm it's true that provisional ballots look different from mail ballots because they're ballots from polling places, but you'd hope they'd be compatible? It wouldn't totally surprise me though
@Mtclai This is only true for some provisional ballots, not all, right? Remakes should only be needed when someone cast a ballot in the wrong district, meaning it has a race on them that they're not allowed to vote in. Hopefully provisionals with the right ballot type don't get remade?
@Mtclai@SFElections Note that people can mail ballots from anywhere in the United States! If you're out of town around election day, you can take your ballot with you, mail it from somewhere else, and as long as it's in the hands of a USPS employee *somewhere* by election day, it'll be postmarked
@SFMTA_Muni@sfjason2525 Where do they ship it from, Antarctica? You can send a sheet of stickers in the regular mail from most other continents for less than $14, hell USPS Priority Mail with a tracking number is only like $8
I want to say again, as a person with a Computer Science degree who is generally hugely in favour of technical solutions to social problems:
No computer voting machine system that our civilisation can deploy is better than paper ballots
@Liz57799642 @judyr4792 @ukiri2 @TheAnimalsKnow @RossKneeDeep Nope, vote counts are transmitted by taking out the memory cards and physically transporting those. They're also printed on paper for later audits.
are the "your body my choice" posts from Trump supporters a winning message? weird how liberals and only liberals have to tailor every utterance towards winning people over while conservatives get to just let it all hang out
