Intelligent people struggle with addiction. Their minds need more. They have obsessions nobody around them shares. Philosophy. Astronomy. Dostoevsky. Jazz. Quantum physics. Things they know deeply. Things they've gone so deep into that anything else feel like small talk. And small talk feels like suffocation. So... they drink. Work until 2 am. Doomscroll until they're numb. Because there is a gap. A gap between who you are and the conversations available to you. And it's one of the loneliest places a person can live.
Scarcity dictates what’s meaningful.
ㅤ
When you are alone, a relationship feels meaningful. When you’re in a relationship, time to yourself feels meaningful.
ㅤ
When you are overworked, time off feels meaningful. When you have plenty of downtime, work feels meaningful.
ㅤ
The scarcity never gets solved, it simply changes form.
Everything around me is rotting, so i build. that is it, that is the whole reason. God built six days and rested one. he could have stopped at function, he could have given us eyes that only see useful things, but he made color. he made sunsets. he made the shape of a woman's back. he made the sound of rain hitting a dirt road at night. beauty was not an afterthought, it was the first thought, everything else came after. i build because the world is falling apart, and a man who does not build is just watching a fire. i lay bricks straight, i put flowers where nobody will see them, i sand wood until the grain is smooth enough to hold without a glove. these are prayers. and the man who says beauty does not matter has never built anything, he has only consumed, and consumption leaves you hollow. everyone i know who only takes has the same eyes, empty, always hungry, looking for the next thing to swallow. hold a hammer instead. hold wood. hold stone. make something that does not need you to survive, and then walk away from it, and feel what that is. that is the closest i have ever got to being alive, and i am not giving it back.
I ask this question from time to time and it’s not one of those judgmental “why are you not having kids” posts. I could not care less if someone decides to have kids or not, or their reasons.
What I genuinely don’t understand is… if you’ve decided not to have children… why are you working a traditional career? Why are you interacting with a computer all day? Why do you care at all about how much money you make? It literally makes no sense.
There are only a few tiny exceptions… like you’re a caregiver for a family member or you have significant health issues.
Go join the Peace Corps or the military. Go volunteer somewhere in the world. Become an EMT or a paramedic or a firefighter or a police officer.
Go find a shack in the woods somewhere and write fiction for five straight years and don’t talk to anyone.
Literally walk across the country. Bike around the world. Move to Greece and work on a boat ferrying tourists around the islands. Go to Switzerland and become a mountain guide. Dedicate yourself to fitness and adventure. Literally anything.
You have this incredible gift of a life with no dependents. Why are you still career coded and money coded?
One of the great mysteries of our time.
Australia was not established as a nation-building project.
It was established as an extraction platform.
The British did not colonize Australia to build a civilization.
They colonized it to extract l; first convict labor, then wool, then gold, then minerals, then gas.
The political architecture was built around that extraction logic from day one, and it has never been restructured away from it.
You assume the state exists to serve the population, and therefore bad outcomes must mean the state is being run poorly.
Australia is not a sovereign state that happens to have a mining sector.
It is a private sector extraction platform that happens to have citizens.
Every Australian who “owns” a home is servicing a debt instrument that enriches the FIC.
The minerals get dug up by foreign-owned multinationals.
The profits get distributed to global shareholders.
The taxation office is structured; by design, through decades of lobbying, to ensure the extraction proceeds leave the country with minimal sovereign capture.
The politicians are doing exactly what the structure requires of them: absorbing public anger, rotating every few years to reset the pressure valve.
Australia is not mismanaged. Australia is managed perfectly,
just not for Australians.
Every once in a while you meet someone who seems more Alive than everyone else. It's like everyone else is pretending to exist, but they're actually consciousness manifest - they're dynamic, both funny and tragic, passionate, aware. They've got eyes that actually look at things instead of merely passing them over. It's like coming into contact with the kind of person reality was actually made for.
The saddest thing an outlier can do to themselves is:
Marry a normie.
It’s the closest thing to killing yourself without actually killing yourself.
You are signing up for the eternally unfulfilled life. You quite literally would be more fulfilled alone - no exaggeration.
Hear me when I say this they didn’t have a fuking clue
Not when they dismissed you, not when they rejected you, not when they pushed you into walking away.
They truly didn’t know who they were dealing with.
Yeah, they felt something in your energy.
They felt the shift when you walked into a room.
They felt the healing, the clarity, the power.
That’s why they stuck around in the first place.
But they had no idea how important you actually are.
No idea how big your purpose is.
No idea what the fuk your presence really meant
The rejection?
The betrayal?
You having to walk away?
All of it part of the damn plan
It was there to teach you this one truth
You don’t need a single person outside yourself to validate who the hell you are
You needed that isolation
You needed that silence
You needed that space to go inward and remember your own power
Because you’ve got a serious role to play here, fam.
And you feel it in your bones.
You’ve always felt it.
The best is still ahead of you and it’s not even close 🪶
The secret to discipline is protecting the first hour. If the first hour gets stolen by noise, messages, and cheap dopamine, your day becomes reactive. Win the morning with one hard task and one clean habit, and the rest of the day obeys that early identity.
you need to be going slower. you need to resist modern society's insane pace of life because it is driving everyone insane. you need to have very slow, long mornings, sitting in silence, reading books, cooking meals. you need to be strolling, walking slowly, moving with grace. move slooooower like your life depends on it...because it does. a fast life is a short life.
8,000,000,000 people on Earth.
Almost no one knows you exist.
The few who do are too busy to care.
Relax. No one’s watching.
Dear son, Go build your life.

You’re so much cooler than you think you are. The niche shit you’re into and your blend of hobbies traits and talents are literally 1 of 1. You free yourself by shining that light for everyone to see. The moment you shrink back or try to copy another mf is when you become lame.
You have no idea how much time you have left.
Do not let your days pass by in a blur.
Work can give you capital to invest.
But don't get stuck as an employee.
Capital allocation can give you freedom.
But don't get stuck staring at charts.
Once you have freedom, you must use it wisely.
Recognize that your time is scarcer than capital.
And study the art of time allocation.
When I was lucky enough to have dinner with @saylor at his home in 2021 thanks to my friend @Eric_BIGfund - just 4 of us with hours of time.
Michael Saylor looked me dead in the eyes and told me how the world would look at Bitcoin and the US Dollar and what would come.
Like a real time traveller.
Everything you’re seeing right now with Bitcoin and USD stable-coin development.
Is playing out exactly as Michael professed to me that evening.
This is before ETFs, before US government, before anything we take for granted now.
Nobody can truly understand the reverence I have for the foresight, intelligence and execution of this man and his mind.
I am team @saylor, team $MSTR.
