only 5% of marketing in the U.S. targets consumers older than 50, and much of it falls short in diversity and representation. @ASAging offers a toolkit to telling age-inclusive stories. what examples have you seen of respectful, accurate, & inclusive elderhood in storytelling?

returning to ancestral foodways reconnects us to the land, our culture, and our health. #AdvocacyinAging24 looks like amplifying the diverse and varied voices of older adults, recognizing how intersectionality shapes the lived experiences of indigenous and immigrant elders
ASA’s own Mazie Soto tells a fascinating tale that takes us from Mexico, to the U.S. and then back to her ancestral roots. In between is reflected a common immigrant story, with an uncommon ending. Highly recommend, in #GenerationsToday: https://t.co/AyhHBSzDXi
@HollyR73240 I have started some informal book clubs with the women in my family. we pass around some of the anti-ageism books I've read for class, like @thischairrocks. creating space to discuss ageism/misogyny, internal & external, has been wonderful and effective.

Despair is not solidarity.
Bearing witness can leave us feeling powerless and hopeless. Find whatever it takes to keep hope burning bright.
Despair is not an option. Despair is not solidarity.
@ZariaBell00@Agingwithmaia this makes me think about the pressure those celebrities must feel to maintain that image! what happens when they DO visibly age? why would their beauty be any less because of a few wrinkles?
#AdvocacyinAging24
@Aging24KDixson @Agingwithmaia right! knowing that the ways we age are impacted by our genetics, our socioeconomic status, and our exposure to stressors (like microaggressions), it puts a sour taste in my mouth when i see people denigrate someone for aging "poorly" or looking "too old."
