Michigan didn't have black panthers or Rodney King and California never REALLY embraced unions or motown. If you approach the US like 1 country, it will never make sense.

@matthewwilkes @HammerToe I grew up in the midwest which has a lot of German/Polish influence. People don't usually protest even though IMO black people are treated generally horribly there. But in California, I have been told by natives that the culture here is to protest good and hard every 15 years.

One long term effect of being a manager is that you learn what is appropriate when and with whom and edit yourself. This sucks sometimes. I just wrote a neighborhood email about SWAPPING KEYS and couldn't bring myself to leave in all the gifs/jokes about key parties.
