@Jess_5000818 @Megha5000818@MHR5000818@MHR5000818 We had a consumer who was very attention seeking so much so that yes she would say things or do things that would make her the centre of attention or conversation! Whether this was done deliberately or subconsciously it was hard to know
Have had a couple of consumers with NMS or serotonin syndrome which has altered the way they are prescribed medications and means that if they are restarted on those meds they require frequent obs and monitoring to prevent a relapse @MHR5000818
@Megha5000818 @Jess_5000818 @MHR5000818@MHR5000818 I had a consumer who due perhaps their lack of support systems has been admitted to the unit several times because when they are placed in a different facility they want to return so act up to force a return to the unit!
@MHR50008 its very interesting seeing how ECT has changed a persons mood and affect after several treatments one consumer who had a very restricted affect is now smiling more and becoming more engaged and their affect is becoming more congruent and their mood more euthymic
@MHR5000818 Its being very interesting to see an example of a labile affect in a consumer with BPAD! It can be very tricky to manage when they go from being very rude one minute to very pleasant and friendly the next
@MHR5000818 I found it very interesting and a vital part of the treatment and recovery model in the multidisciplinary team meeting I attended, my opinion was heard and provided needed information about certain clients and it was nice to participate and contribute to their care!
@nilmini_5000818 @MHR5000818@MHR5000818 it's very interesting you mention NMS as a consumer had a code blue that I was involved in with a history of NMS and they were being closely monitored for signs of this condition as they were being trialled on a typical antipsychotic
@nilmini_5000818 @Manasa5000818@MHR5000818@MHR5000818 That's very interesting as a consume who was to have ECT had a BSL of 22 and they couldn't give them any insulin as the consumer was fasting for the general anaesthetic this was despite the consumer fasting
@ayodya5000818@MHR5000818@MHR5000818 Yes I saw this happen as a consumer was having their first ECT treatment and required titration however once they work out a level that produces an effective seizure they stick to that amount for future treatments unless it doesn't trigger a seizure
@monica5000818@Emma_5000818@elise5000818@MHR5000818@MHR5000818 I agree with Monica each consumer in my ward is on a minimum of daily obs, BSLs if required and obs more frequently if they have present physical health issues or if they are being monitored for medication side effects
@Jess_5000818 @elise5000818@annie5000818@Alex_5000818@MHR5000818 Yes Jess I have to agree a lot of the consumers I work with have good relationships with each other and often they don't want to leave because they have spent so much time together and have built up a support group within these places @MHR5000818
@nilmini_5000818 @Emma_5000818@MHR5000818@Emma_5000818 I saw the post ECT monitoring they do regular 15 min obs as the consumers has just had general anaesthesia until they match a criteria allowing them to be either taken back to the ward or they wait around for several hours if they are heading back to the community
@MHR5000818 was very interesting to see numerous consumers undergoing ECT! It was very positive to see that there were several consumers who the nurses reported had made drastic improvements after relatively short periods of the treatment. Great to see it working therapeutically
@MHR5000818 I have found it challenging to manage a patient who is in a very difficult to manage period of mania who is verbally rude and socially inappropriate
This is a great clip that explores this new mental health program in the U.K.! It's great that people are having the conversations and taking the steps required @MHR5000818 https://t.co/2b0r55ojiZ
@Alli5000818 Ok TTO needs to be made by an authorised psychiatrist only after an assessment order so if Greg doesnt meet these criteria then he cant become an involuntary consumer
