🚧 UGX 500BN JUST HIT THE ROAD SECTOR.
HERE'S WHAT IT MEANS FOR YOUR TRAVEL.
The PS/ST kept his word.
Money has landed at @MoWT_Uganda, and it's going straight to the roads that needed right of way the most and those that needed funds to push forward.
▶️Kira-Matugga-Kasangati. ▶️Natete-Nakawuka. ▶️Kampala-Jinja. ▶️Mityana-Mubende. ▶️Mubende-Kyenjojo. ▶️Kyenjojo-Kyegegwa etc.
One fresh shot at life for all these projects and more.
📍On Kira-Matugga, the contractor is back on site, grinding through the swamp near Kitti. The fuel stations that stalled this project for months? Finally on the compensation priority list.
📍On Kampala-Jinja, engineers confirm asphalt is going down near the cement factory past Namawojolo. We are now going to see real progress, not promises.
Give it a few months. The roads will look different. The journey will feel different.
But here's the truth nobody likes to talk about: road projects don't just cost money, they cost time — and time becomes money when contractors file claims because government didn't have land ready, or designs weren't done, or the contractor was simply slow.
So government drew a line: no contract gets signed anymore without 50% right of way secured first.
Second move — optimization. Why pay more for compensation than the road itself costs? Iganga-Bulopa proved it works, saving over 40bn.
Third — reward communities who give land freely. Kayunga-Bbale-Galiraya did exactly that. Government builds, the public benefits. Win-win, no drama.
Funding fixes roads. Discipline fixes systems.
This is what that looks like in motion. 🇺🇬
