Transportation cost is housing cost. Transportation cost is housing cost. Transportation cost is housing cost. Transportation cost is housing cost. Transportation cost is housing cost. Transportation cost is housing cost.
If that sounds interesting to you, you can register to attend (either virtually or in-person) on the conference website: https://t.co/dtUv0LD3wn @NewJerseyFuture@NJ_Planning#NJPRC24
See you there?
Grateful to be invited to share all about Oregon’s housing and land use successes at the New Jersey Planning and Redevelopment Conference on Thursday, June 6!
Along with folks from around the country, we will talk about the lessons we’ve learned in removing planning, regulatory, and legal barriers to unlock increased housing production, affordability, and choice.
Really looking forward to comparing notes with these experts!
So incredibly honored to be able to celebrate a historic day for housing, the State of Oregon, and Department of Land Conservation and Development watching Governor Kotek sign SB 1537, SB 1564, SB 1530, and HB 4134 in the shadows of the nearly-complete Tistilal Village yesterday
HAPO will facilitate and support production by assisting local govts and builders in applying state housing laws. The Office will also coordinate state agencies involved in housing development to overcome housing barriers.
An insightful look into how state housing policy is effective - and how it sometimes isn't - in quickly moving the needle on housing production. Happy that Oregon could lend our experiences to this review!
The past several years have seen unprecedented legislative action on statewide housing policy—from “missing middle” in OR to ADUs in ME. But what happens *after* the legislative victory? New from me, @j_gill1, Semida Munteanu & Sydney Zelinka @landpolicy: https://t.co/9j4cAlBZWt
@CityLab Great things happening in Hawaii! Oregon finds ourselves in a somewhat similar position. State of emergency, annual unit production targets, and historic investments in housing subsidy - yes. But also massive, comprehensive overhauls to a 50-year old land use and planning process
There is no quick fix to Oregon's housing crisis - it was decades in the making and will take time to reverse. Thankfully, state & local governments are already making progress by charting a previously unmapped policy landscape to house our communities. https://t.co/fm49WMLpq1
Happy 50th anniversary of Oregon’s land use system!
Our state's land use program has been a model of innovation, conserving our natural resources & protecting our quality of life.
Together we will continue to preserve Oregon's beauty for future generations.
@andersem Developing a set of permit-ready, pre-approved housing plans is one of those "off-the-shelf efficiency measures" we plan to create thanks to HB 2001. In addition to being a resource, those plans are a tool in the toolbox when accountability conversations with cities get serious.
Very proud to have led this effort in the Oregon House with Vice-Chair @JeffHelfrichOR. Today we made a down payment on the extensive housing and homelessness work that will be done this session. Thank you @GovTinaKotek, @DanRayfield and Pres Wagner for your leadership!
Very proud of the work that DLCD has already done, and will continue to do, to reduce and eliminate land use barriers to housing. Looking forward to diving into housing policy nuances with this Council.
Happening now: Governor Kotek is opening the inaugural Housing Production Advisory Committee meeting. This group will spend the next 10 months identifying and reviewing state regulations, policies, and practices that are barriers to housing production, affordability, and choice.
WA's middle housing bill, HB 1110, passes the House, on a vote of 75 - 21!
One big step closer to legalizing more homes of all shapes and sizes in communities all across Washington.
Thank you @jessdbateman, you are an abundant housing hero!!!
