Had constructive engagements with H.E. Mike Waltz, Permanent Representative of the United States to the United Nations, and Ambassador Jeffrey Bartos, U.S. Representative to the UN for Management and Reform.
Discussed recent developments in the #Horn of #Africa and presented #Eritrea’s perspective on the evolving regional situation. Reiterated that there is no "crisis" between #Eritrea and #Ethiopia, and underscored the need for the international community to pay closer attention to the worrisome developments within #Ethiopia. The most important issue is for #Ethiopia to respect #Eritrea's sovereign territories and stop diverting attention from its domestic issues.
Outlined #Ethiopia|s three-year-long campaign concerning the Red Sea and its continued threats against #Eritrea’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, including threats to annex sovereign #Eritrean territories. Urged those with leverage to use it responsibly and proactively, to prevent unnecessary wars in the region. To refrain from making statments that embolden #Ethiopia's leadership.
Also briefed them on #Ethiopia’s expulsion of #Eritrea’s representatives accredited to the @_AfricanUnion Union and the @UN Economic Commission for #Africa, as well as the breakdown of diplomatic relations initiated by #Ethiopia and reciprocated by #Eritrea.
#Eritrea’s sovereignty and territorial integrity must be respected. Preventing renewed conflict requires addressing the underlying threats, upholding international law, and acting before issues escalate...
@AbiyAhmedAli The Chameleon who Changes colors shifting positions & changes the lies to suit the his political agenda. But history has a long memory & actions speak louder than words. #Eritrea’s sovereignty is not negotiable. No political maneuver can change that. #Ethiopian

Access can be negotiated, ownership cannot be claimed. #Eritrea's borders are settled law, and #Ethiopia won't get reliable sea access by threatening the sovereignty it needs to partner with.

#Eritreans defend #Eritrea’s sovereignty across social media and other platforms not because its sovereignty is in dispute or needs proving, but to shield unsuspecting readers from the deluge of lies, fabrications, and shameless propaganda unleashed by #Ethiopia's Prosperity Party–paid disinformation merchants.
Their mission is to flood social media with deception, distort reality, and manufacture false narratives in the hope that repetition will make lies look like facts. Eritreans speak out to expose this propaganda for what it is before it misleads those who lack the time to separate fact from fiction. #EritreaPrevails

In the first nine months of this year alone, the “Prosperity” regime in #Ethiopia received 365 cargo-plane shipments of so-called “aid” from the #UAE, including weapons and ammunition to suppress conflicts the regime itself deliberately ignited to consolidate its grip on power, while provoking neighboring countries and fueling regional instability.
Furthermore, over the past eight years, the regime has received more than US$30 billion in foreign financial assistance, according to conservative estimates, from numerous international donors.
Yet, despite this massive influx of military and financial support, the regime has failed to overcome its deepening crisis.

ETHIOPIA ― 🚨 Tigray Defense Forces (TDF) have reportedly imposed a flight ban on all flights to and from Mekelle Airport, accusing the Abiy Ahmed regime of using the airport to transport troops into Tigray.
According to the statement, Alliance for Survival (AFS) coalition forces operating in Amhara and Tigray have closed most major road routes, allegedly leaving air transport as the regime’s only remaining option for moving troops into the Tigray region. (See the statement in the comments.)
The warning comes amid reports that coalition forces have developed the capability to strike air bases and high-value military targets deep inside Oromia and even in the capital, Addis Ababa.
The reported flight ban signals a further escalation of tensions, and the warning should not be taken lightly.

Hurray! Can you now please take this document to the UN as evidence, make a claim for Assab, and see what happens?
We all know that #Ethiopians have no claim to Assab, and this is the best evidence they can produce to support their claim.
Let me educate you, my #Ethiopian friend.
This document (you presented as evidence) is part of the US diplomatic records documenting negotiations among the US, Britain, France and defeated Italy over what to do with Italy’s three African colonies after the Second World War.
As you can see, the document was written in March 1949, as preparations were being made for the UN General Assembly to decide the fate of these territories in 1950. Britain, the US, #Ethiopia and Italy were all pursuing their respective interests in Eritrea.
The #British wanted to incorporate western #Eritrea into Sudan, anticipating that they would continue their colonial rule for decades to come. They were also seeking to claim the Ogaden and incorporate it into #Somaliland.
The Italians, meanwhile, wanted to maintain a protectorate over Eritrea. In particular, they were trying to negotiate the retention of #Asmara and #Massawa, claiming that this was necessary to safeguard Italian settlers. That is why they were proposing to cede Assab and parts of the #Danakil region to Ethiopia. After all, Haile Selassie had been asking for Assab since 1935.
The US had discovered the strategic value of Kagnew Station, one of the most significant intelligence listening posts of the 20th century, and was determined to retain access to it by any means necessary. At the time, the Americans believed that giving Eritrea to Haile Selassie was the best way to protect their interests in Kagnew Station.
Haile Selassie, for his part, was keen to acquire Assab or Zeila for Ethiopia. He did not appear to care whether Eritrea was divided into two or five territories, provided the Western powers granted him access to the sea.
#Libya and #Somalia were also among the territories whose fate was being decided through the international arrangements of the postwar period. At the UN General Assembly in 1950, the victorious powers of the Second World War—the US, Britain and France—were seeking to determine the future of these territories, while pursuing arrangements that would preserve their influence and control for decades to come.
Therefore, this document proves no historical Ethiopian sovereignty over Assab. On the contrary, it shows that Ethiopia was seeking to have Assab incorporated into its territory. The Italian representative at the meeting explicitly stated that Italy was willing to cede Assab and parts of the Danakil region to #Ethiopia.
🎥 MUST WATCH: Ambassador Girmay Haile DISMANTLES Ethiopia’s false Narrative on Assab! 🇪🇷🔥 (full interview link on the comments) Share & Comment
On Africa Talks, Ethiopia’s representative struggled to justify threats against Eritrea when asked why Ethiopia claims it lacks sea access despite access routes through neighboring countries (Somalia, Djibouti, Sudan, Kenya, Eritrea). Ambassador Girmay Haile powerfully challenged the historical distortions, imperial nostalgia, and baseless narratives of Eritrean incursion used to justify claims over Assab.
Assab is Eritrean. Sovereignty is NOT negotiable! Ethiopia must respect the Algiers Agreement and the commitments made under the 2018 Jeddah Peace Agreement as all the inte. The only legitimate path to the sea is through commercial agreements that fully respect Eritrea’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as reaffirmed by the UN Security Council and emphasized by @SecRubio. Sovereignty is non-negotiable!

Colonel @AbiyAhmedAli 's playbook: threaten first, overreach, then beg for mediation. From Ankara to Moscow, the pattern repeats. The pattern raises serious questions. #Eritrea’s sovereignty is not negotiable.

#Eritrea: Ministry of Foreign Affairs Urges AU to Restore Eritrea’s Representation at its Headquarters
(Similar Letter Sent to UNECA)
*"... The decision of the Ethiopian Government - to expel Eritrea's Permanent Representative and the entire diplomatic staff assigned to participate in the AU - constitutes a grave violation of the Constitutive Act; and, the Headquarters Agreement between the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and the African Union...".
*"... In light of the foregoing, Eritrea urges the policy organs of the AU to take immediate corrective measures to restore Eritrea's rightful representation at the Headquarters of the Union to ensure its full participation in the activities of the Union as a sovereign and equal member, in strict adherence to the Constitutive Act; the Headquarters Agreement; and, the General Convention".
(The Letter also underlines that Ethiopia had in fact closed, without any formal announcement, its Embassy in Eritrea much earlier on 8 August 2026).

ETHIOPIA SEEKS A PRETEXT FOR A WAR IT HAD DECLARED LONG AGO
Over the past three years, Ethiopia’s PM has repeatedly vowed to secure “#sovereign#access” to the #Red#Sea through negotiations if possible and by force if necessary. He questioned Eritrea’s very independence and sovereignty. In doing so, he used state institutions, including , but not limited to, Parliament, state media, and official meetings; not to mention his paid digital media mercenaries. His generals have repeatedly boasted that their war would erase the boundary, leaving neither a sovereign #Eritrea nor its government.
These are not isolated remarks. They reveal a dangerous pattern of threats against a sovereign state, undermining the #UN #Charter, #international #law, and treaties that govern #territorial #integrity.
Abiy’s regime evidently keeps shifting its false accusations: one moment alleging that Eritrea crossed the border, the next claiming that Eritrea arms and supports the Alliance Forces for Survival (AFS). Yet these allegations failed to provide a shred of evidence and remain unconfirmed by independently verified bodies. Such wild accusations cannot substitute for proof and should never be allowed to serve as a pretext for a dangerous and premeditated plan of aggression.
To cover up its wild plans, this PP government is struggling to manufacture “evidence” for a #war its leaders have already threatened publicly. The world must not mistake the pretext for the aggressor’s false accusations for evidence and call this aggressor by its name.
