Bangladesh Will Not Take Part in This Chaotic Vote
Violence and reprisals mark BNP–Jamaat’s election battle.
Critics warn the country is sliding into unrest, describing it as a sanctuary of violence. Allegations of a staged election have fueled clashes between rival factions of BNP and Jamaat — long-time political allies turned combatants.
Observers say some areas now resemble battlefields, where the outcome is determined not by votes, but by attacks and casualties.
⚠️ With safety at risk and democracy under threat, citizens are urged to stay alert and protect themselves.

Upcoming National Election: Daily Killings and Violence Turn Bangladesh’s Political Arena into a Bloodstained Battleground
As #Bangladesh approaches its upcoming national election, the country is sliding deeper into fear, insecurity, and political violence. With the election drawing closer, incidents of killings, clashes, mob attacks, and armed assaults are occurring almost daily across the country. These incidents are no longer seen as isolated crimes; rather, they are increasingly viewed as part of a growing pattern of election-related violence. As a result, public confidence in a peaceful and credible election is rapidly eroding.
Political violence has intensified in the pre-election period, claiming lives on a near-daily basis. The recent assassination of an independent candidate has sent shockwaves through the political landscape, setting a dangerous precedent. Alongside this, numerous people have been killed in clashes linked to political rivalry, election campaigning, and territorial dominance. Human rights groups and media reports indicate that over the past several weeks, multiple deaths have been recorded in politically motivated violence, affecting not only party activists but also ordinary civilians. These killings have created a climate of fear that threatens voter participation.
Amid this instability, allegations have emerged that the election is being organized by effectively excluding the Bangladesh Awami League, raising concerns that the process is becoming a “managed” or non-inclusive election. Analysts warn that nearly 60 percent of voters may remain effectively outside the electoral process, undermining the legitimacy of the vote. A lack of political inclusiveness, they argue, has historically fueled violence—an outcome now visibly unfolding on the ground.
The security situation has further deteriorated following the looting of police stations on August 5, 2024. Thousands of firearms were stolen during the attacks, and more than a thousand of those weapons have yet to be recovered. Security experts warn that these missing weapons may already be contributing to the daily killings and could be used to escalate violence during the election period, posing a serious threat to voters, candidates, and election officials.
Another major source of concern is the escape of dangerous criminals and militants from prisons, many of whom remain at large. Law enforcement authorities acknowledge that a significant number of escaped extremists have not yet been apprehended. Analysts caution that these fugitives could exploit the fragile law-and-order situation to carry out large-scale violence during the election, further destabilizing the country.
At the same time, repeated attacks on police stations, the killing of law enforcement personnel, and the theft of weapons have severely weakened the morale and operational capacity of the police. In many areas, law enforcement appears overstretched and unable to effectively control political violence. Security analysts believe this breakdown has emboldened violent groups, allowing election-related killings and mob violence to continue with alarming frequency.
In this context, the daily loss of life can no longer be dismissed as random criminal activity. It has become a defining feature of the current election environment. Citizens are increasingly asking whether Bangladesh is heading toward a genuine democratic election or toward an election overshadowed by bloodshed and fear. Observers warn that unless voter security, rule of law, and political inclusiveness are urgently restored, the upcoming election may deepen Bangladesh’s democratic crisis rather than resolve it.

🔴2025: A Dark Chapter of Violence, Fear and the Loss of Rights
The year 2025 was a deeply troubling one for Bangladesh. Violence, repression and human rights violations spread across society to such an extent that security and justice in everyday life seemed almost to disappear. Mob violence took on a horrific form people were beaten to death based on accusations or rumours, while in many cases the inaction of law enforcement agencies made the situation even worse. Women, minorities and ordinary citizens were the primary victims of this violence.
Repeated attacks on minority communities exposed the stark reality of social intolerance. Homes were set on fire, temples and idols were vandalised, and brutal killings took place, calling fundamental human values into question. Violence against women presented an even grimmer picture rape, sexual harassment and domestic abuse robbed countless women of their lives and futures. The situation for children was equally distressing; many lost their lives as a result of abuse and violence.
In 2025, freedom of expression shrank at an alarming rate. Journalists faced attacks, legal harassment and threats; there were even incidents of murder and arson targeting media offices. As a result, one of the core pillars of democracy was severely weakened.
Political violence and clashes between rival groups led to a sharp rise in deaths and injuries. At the same time, extortion and corruption created a constant atmosphere of fear in the lives of ordinary people.
Killings of Bangladeshis along the border and the prevailing culture of impunity highlighted a disturbing lack of state responsibility.
Taken together, 2025 stood out as a bleak period for human rights, women’s safety, minority and children’s rights, and freedom of expression. Unless the rule of law and accountability are ensured, the risk of this crisis deepening further remains the most troubling reality.

In various parts of the world, Christians suffer discrimination and persecution. I think especially of Bangladesh, Nigeria, Mozambique, Sudan, and other countries from which we frequently hear of attacks on communities and places of worship. God is a merciful Father who desires peace among all His children! I accompany in prayer the families of Kivu, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where in recent days there has been a massacre of civilians. Let us pray that all violence may cease and that believers may work together for the common good.
.@SajeebWazed calls the ICT BD's verdict against Sheikh Hasina a "complete mockery of justice". He stressed to @IndiaToday that the trial was rushed and predetermined, and the most successful state leader of Bangladesh was not given the chance to choose her own defense attorneys. This unelected government has dismantled the rule of law, turning courts into rubber stamps for political vendetta, while protecting its own from accountability for killings.

Statement of the Bangladesh Awami League Rejecting the Verdict Delivered by the So-Called Illegal International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)
-----
The Bangladesh Awami League, along with the people of the country, has issued a statement strongly rejecting the verdict of the so-called illegal International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) against the daughter of the Greatest Bengali of All Time, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman; the Honorable Prime Minister of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh; President of the Bangladesh Awami League; the champion of democracy; and the beloved leader Deshratna Sheikh Hasina.
The statement says that, with deep anger and profound sorrow, we observe that instead of an elected government, the illegal, unconstitutional, unelected killer–fascist Yunus and his associates have unlawfully seized state power. Subsequently, they established an illegal tribunal in violation of the internationally recognized principles governing the International Crimes Tribunal. This tribunal is entirely illegal, malicious, vindictive, and driven by vengeance. Fascist Yunus has taken this violent step against Deshratna Sheikh Hasina in order to secure his unlawfully usurped authority.
The statement notes that, to the people of Bangladesh and the world, the trial conducted by this illegal ICT has already become widely recognized as a farce. The illegal usurper killer–fascist Yunus is essentially conspiring to exile from politics the leaders rooted in the values of independence and the spirit of the Liberation War—particularly Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina—as well as national leaders and progressive, non-communal people from various professions.
The statement further says that no constitutional or legal process was followed in forming this ICT. This is because, during July–August 2024—under the government led by Deshratna Sheikh Hasina—no crimes under the jurisdiction of an International Crimes Tribunal (such as crimes against humanity or genocide) took place.
According to the statement, under our Constitution, power must be transferred from one elected government to another. The current government has no constitutional legitimacy. Therefore, this farcical trial is entirely unacceptable and contrary to justice and the rule of law. The accused were not given any opportunity to defend themselves. Even the government-appointed lawyer did not communicate with Sheikh Hasina even once.
The statement says: with deep anger, concern, grief, and sorrow, we strongly condemn and protest this malicious, retaliatory, and vengeful verdict. We believe that the people of Bangladesh, the Awami League, and all pro-Liberation forces will build an unyielding movement against this verdict. We also announce that our ongoing shutdown program is extended until tomorrow, 18 November. Our systematic democratic movement will continue until the fall of the illegal, unconstitutional government of killer–fascist Yunus and the restoration of a democratic state system.

Bangladesh: Those responsible for the violations and allegations of crimes against humanity that took place during the student-led protests in 2024 in Bangladesh must be investigated and prosecuted in fair trials. However, this trial and sentence of Sheikh Hasina is neither fair nor just.

Bangladesh’s interim government was “imposed on the people”
- Sheikh Hasina
---
Sheikh Hasina tells @RT_com that #Bangladesh’s interim government was “imposed on the people” after a coordinated uprising fueled by radical groups and even foreign mercenaries.
She said that Yunus is the one who is exploiting the chaos, granting immunity to rioters, dismantling investigations, and ruling without elections for 18 months.
She warns that banning the Awami League and weaponizing the ICT is not justice — it’s political revenge dressed as law.

# The Courts Are Now a Political Laundromat under Yunus. #
Bangladesh’s judiciary is no longer dispensing justice—it is washing crimes clean for the Yunus administration and its allies.
In a matter of months, the courts have torched decades of legal proceedings to rescue the same three men: Tarique Rahman, Lutfozzaman Babar, and Dr. Muhammad Yunus.
*Tarique Rahman Walks Free*
More than 80 cases once hung over Tarique Rahman. Suddenly they’re gone—extortion, corruption, even the August 21 grenade attack. The money-laundering conviction built with FBI evidence? Magically overturned. This isn’t justice; it’s political reward.
*Babar’s ‘Miracle’*
Lutfozzaman Babar went from death row to total freedom. Arms smuggling, explosives, assassination attempts—every conviction erased without new facts. Only raw political muscle explains this kind of “miracle.”
*Yunus absolves Yunus*
All while Dr. Muhammad Yunus, sitting atop the state, watches his own cases vanish: embezzlement dismissed, labour conviction wiped, Tk 666 crore tax claim withdrawn. A head of government benefiting from verdicts under his rule is the definition of judicial corruption.
This Is Not a Judiciary
This is a political sanitization machine, operating in broad daylight.
When courts become weapons, democracy becomes fiction. Bangladesh’s justice system is being rewritten by power, not law—and the country is paying the price.
Dhaka Police Commissioner under #Yunus orders police to shoot protesters even if they are not targeting people, only vehicles and structures. So why blame our government?

Awami League Announces Nationwide Shutdown and Protest Program on November 16–17
Following the successful lockdown in Dhaka on November 13, the Awami League has announced a new program. To demand the restoration of democracy, an end to sham trials, and to protest state-sponsored terror, nationwide demonstrations and resistance activities will be held on November 14–15, followed by a nationwide “shutdown” on November 16–17.
The party claims that this shutdown is not just an Awami League initiative—it will see the spontaneous participation of the oppressed and marginalized people of the country. Students, workers, employees, rickshaw pullers, and garment workers from all walks of life are urged to support the movement.
The Awami League believes that active participation by the people is essential for establishing good governance and building a safe Bangladesh.
