@khzny We’ve got one of them and from what I gathered from City planning the new provincial rules supersede the city zoning and the City will be re-writing the zoning bylaw to remove STR’s as a primary use
BC’s new STR rentals will have an interesting effect on the summer economy in Kelowna. There are ~3500 hotel rooms in the city. There are ~1300 STR’s in Kelowna alone. Surrounding areas probably double that.
So say 40% of available nightly stays are now gone. Yikes.
@LeoSpalteholz It’s interesting because STR taxes currently are waived after something like 28 days. And the RTB has roughly shown that’s a time period for a tenancy to form among other criteria. So do those goal posts now move?
