@BonSi35115@GordonJohnson19 The same thing happened to the “hyperscalers” of Y2K. See $CSCO’s last hurrah in the summer of 2000. The Road Runner kept sprinting… until it looked down.
@GaryMarcus The biggest flaw in safety record is a selection bias. FSD users are not random drivers. They drive newer Teslas, in different places, conditions, times, and distances, and opt into beta-like software. Comparing them to the general population is likely intentionally confounded
@adorablefox2303@GaryMarcus Spend $10B on a data center, rent it out for $1B a month, call it a $12B run rate annual revenue, slap on a 100x multiple and- boom, $1.2T market cap. Easy money.
@SixSigmaCapital@ZeroSamOne Depends on the time frame. On Monday, it may be mildly bearish, if that; after that, neutral to bullish. Given the chaotic nature of the current executive branch, the order could/will be rescinded or modified very quickly.
@BradMunchen@ShortingIsFun Judging by the Cybercab and Vegas Loop narratives, “data centers in space next year” may ultimately turn out to be just a few H100s, a solar panel, and a radiator bolted to a Starlink satellite. Scaling will wait
@DadInvest@tslaqtwin That SpaceX hoodie may end up being the Webvan souvenir of this generation. I still have a few of those. In 2000, I happened to be in a Bay Area burger joint where a bunch of Webvan employees were having a goodbye party giving away tee’s. Didn’t realize the symbolism then
@hamids@BradMunchen It’s more like Elon is turning his data centers into an Airbnb than actually making money from AI. He collects rent for a few mo while OpenAI and Anthropic are desperate for “place to stay”/compute. Eventually the guests move out, pay the cleaning fee, and the party is over.
