Gotham Park is a nonprofit reopening the iconic #BrooklynBanks space under Manhattan's Brooklyn Bridge for people of all ages, abilities, & interests to enjoy.
It is amazing what we can achieve when we come together for the greater good! Thanks to $2M in federal funding, @GothamParkNYC is creating a new public space beneath the Brooklyn Bridge for millions of New Yorkers.

I joined @SenSchumer in announcing the $2M federal grant my colleagues and I secured to help transform the Arches and reconnect separated communities in Lower Manhattan.
This grant will bring real benefits to thousands of New Yorkers, and I will keep fighting for more.
It was great to join @GothamParkNYC and representatives from the Governor’s office and NY Department of State today to tour Gotham Park and discuss the opportunities for revitalization and activation of the 9 acres of underutilized space underneath the Brooklyn Bridge!
NYC’s parks are some of the most vibrant open spaces in the world. But the city can’t keep up with their growing needs. Our new commentary argues that the city should make it far easier for nonprofits and community groups to help care for these spaces.

Federal investment in the re-opening of the public space under the Brooklyn Bridge in Lower Manhattan is a glimmer of what can happen when local communities come together and organize. We are grateful to @SenSchumer and everyone in our corner who rallied to bring this dream closer to reality for the benefit of New Yorkers and all those who visit this magnificent U.S. National Historic Landmark!
I am thrilled to announce funding for the Arches project reclaiming long under-used space under the Brooklyn Bridge. I look forward to advancing the long-term vision for a new park for the surrounding communities with my federal partners @GillibrandNY, @RepDanGoldman, and local leaders like @GothamParkNYC.
We are so grateful to @senschumer @senkirstengillibrand @repdangoldman who worked hard to win federal funding for the Gotham Park project under the @usdot Reconnecting Communities Program!
Thank you @secretarypete for believing in this project, to @nyc_dot, @nycmayor and advocates in City Hall including Deputy Mayor @MeeraCJoshi and Chief Public Realm Officer @yating_liu, @BradyHamed for your continued incredible support and for choosing Lower Manhattan project to put forward, and to our entire grassroots coalition for their support and advocacy including Manhattan @communityboard1 and @communityboard3, Alfred E. Smith Residents Association, Chatham Green Cooperative, @UAMakerNYC, @skatepark, and so many more community members who show up every day for this much-needed community public space.

If all goes to plan, the skate park will be part of a $160-million, nine-acre area under and around the bridge called Gotham Park, which will not only preserve the Brooklyn Banks but will also feature basketball courts, playgrounds and art installations. https://t.co/kpYdP4RuFl
An incredible grassroots coalition has come together to organize around bringing back the Banks and creating a grand new park under the Manhattan side of the Brooklyn Bridge. Learn more about their inspiring vision here: https://t.co/IgxWwX6rpq
