@GarrettPetersen In MA it's explicitely carved out: "As used in this Article, the terms 'mental disease or defect' do not include an abnormality manifested only by repeated criminal or otherwise anti-social conduct." https://t.co/yDY7HmWskz
@GarrettPetersen@jonatanpallesen In Massachusetts, a hospital that wants to release a committed patient must notify the DA, who can ask for a court review. Mass General Law 123, section 16(e).
@SeanMombo@rob_mcrobberson I think no other event in history comes close in theoretical wrongness (especially with catastrophic epistemic mistakes) * spectacular success
@prerat Another technical solution: some cars have HUDs that will project your speedometer into your field of view, with focus at infinity. Lets you see your speed and the road at the same time. Available aftermarket
@prerat Some cars actually have a speed limiter feature: the car drives normally but won't let you go above a set speed. Exists in variants that read limit signs and some that are set manually. Solves this problem entirely, unfortunately rare in the US.
@tracewoodgrains@robertskmiles France has an extreme amount of speed cameras and the speed limits higher than the us. The limit on freeways is 130 km/h, 81 mph.
@max_spero_@swombat Mostly agree but "final step" is a little reductive for an autoregressive model. A method like this could in principle significantly degrade performance
@ElminsterD@eigenrobot It weakens the example though, if you only want the same PIE root there are tons of English words with completely different meanings. If this was a divergence within the last millennium it'd be more interesting
@da_allgeier@paulg @TobiasE97319503 @Carnage4Life This is true of EU directives, but EU regulations (like GDPR) don't *need* to be transposed into local law. The UK chose to incorporate GDPR into local law when leaving the EU https://t.co/Cw4MHXxOU6
@jeff82874662 Many states have even more stringent requirements, but federal law requires employers to pay tipped workers minimum wage! Only they make *enough* tips that they earn minimum wage anyways can employers pay them less.

@CXGonzalez@PNWHimbo in addition to the $100k foreign income exclusion, all western countries I'm familiar with (incl Spain) have a tax treaty with the US preventing most (not always all!) double taxation https://t.co/b9KqP2d9rb
@ollyrobot i think it's roughly "women find it attractive when men seem strong / powerful enough to be dangerous, but use that power for good only so they feel safe"?
dumbed down & also very possible i completely misunderstand
