#Michel எனும் இளைஞன், #HumphreyBogart (1899–1957) என்ற ஹாலிவுட் ஆக்ஷன் நாயகனைத் தனது முன்மாதிரியாகக் கொண்ட ஒரு கார் திருடன். ஒருமுறை #Marseille ல் காரைத் திருடிக்கொண்டு பாரிஸிற்குப் பயணிக்கும்போது, தற்செயலாக அவனைத் துரத்திய ஒரு காவல்துறை அதிகாரியைச் சுட்டுக்கொன்று விடுகிறான்.
கொலைகாரனாக மாறிய Mitchel, பாரிஸ் நகரில் தஞ்சம் புகுகிறான். அங்கே அவனுக்குத் தெரிந்த அமெரிக்கப் பெண் #Patricia விடம் மீண்டும் காதலைப் புதுப்பிக்க முயல்கிறான். Patricia பாரிஸில் பத்திரிகையாளராக ஆசைப்படும் ஒரு மாணவி. மிஷெல், தான் ஒரு தேடப்படும் குற்றவாளி என்பதை மறைத்து, அவளுடன் ஊர் சுற்றுகிறான்; அவளைத் தன்னுடன் இத்தாலிக்கு வரும்படி அழைக்கிறான்.
பட்ரிசியாவிற்கு மிஷெலின் மீது ஈர்ப்பு இருந்தாலும், அவனது நிழல் உலக வாழ்க்கை அவளுக்குப் பயத்தையும் குழப்பத்தையும் தருகிறது. இதற்கிடையில், மிஷெலைத் தேடும் காவல்துறை பட்ரிசியாவை நெருங்கி அவனைப் பற்றி விசாரிக்கிறது.
மிஷெல் அவளைக் காதலிக்கிறான், ஆனால் பட்ரிசியாவோ தன் மீதான அவனது காதலை விட, தனது சுதந்திரத்தையும் எதிர்காலத்தையும் முக்கியமாகக் கருதுகிறாள்.

இதையறிந்தும் மிஷெல் தப்பி ஓட மறுக்கிறான். காவல்துறை அவனைச் சுட, தெருவின் நடுவே ஓடிச் சென்று விழும் மிஷெல், பட்ரிசியாவைப் பார்த்துத் தனது வெறுப்புணர்வூட்டும் கமென்ட்டை #C'estVraimentDégueulasse அடித்துவிட்டு உயிரிழக்கிறான்.

🔹கதை சீராக, எந்தத் தடங்கலும் இல்லாமல் ஒரு ஒழுங்கில் நகரும் வகையில் தான் படத்தொகுப்பும் இருந்தது.
இந்த பழைய முறைகளை உடைத்தெறிந்து, "சினிமா என்பது இயக்குநரின் கலை" ( #AuteurTheory ) என்று முழங்கிய இளைஞர்களின் கூட்டமே புதிய அலை உருவாக காரணமாக அமைந்தது. 'Breathless' படம் இந்தப் புரட்சியின் முதல் முகமாக மாறியது. அதற்கு சில காரணங்கள் மிக முக்கியமானவை. அவை என்னவென்று அடுத்த பதிவில் பார்க்கலாம்.

ஜப்பானின் ஓனோமிச்சி என்ற சிறிய கிராமத்தில் வசிக்கும் வயதான தம்பதி #Shukichi மற்றும் #Tomi யும், டோக்கியோவில் மருத்துவராக இருக்கும் தங்களது மூத்த மகன் கோய்ச்சி மற்றும் அழகு நிலையம் நடத்தும் மகள் ஷிகே ஆகியோரைச் சந்திக்க ஆசையுடன் ரயிலேறுகிறார்கள்.
டோக்கியோ வந்தடைந்த தம்பதிக்கு ஆரம்பத்தில் வரவேற்பு கிடைத்தாலும், சீக்கிரமே பிள்ளைகள் தங்கள் வேலைப்பளுவில் மூழ்கிப்போனது வருத்தத்தை தருகிறது. பெற்றோருக்கு நேரம் ஒதுக்க முடியாமல் பிள்ளைகளும் தவிக்கிறார்கள். அவர்களை வெளியில் அழைத்துச் செல்வதை ஒரு சுமையாகக் கருதும் பிள்ளைகள், அவர்களைச் சமாளிக்க ஒரு சொகுசு விடுதிக்கு அனுப்பி வைக்கிறார்கள். ஆனால், அங்குள்ள சத்தமும் இளைஞர்களின் ஆரவாரமும் அந்த முதியவர்களுக்கு ஒவ்வாமையைத் தருகிறது.
சொந்தப் பிள்ளைகளே அவர்களைப் பாரமாக நினைக்கும் வேளையில், போரில் காணாமல் போன தங்களது இரண்டாவது மகனின் மனைவி *நோரிகோ* மட்டுமே அவர்கள் மீது உண்மையான அக்கறை காட்டுகிறார். ஏழ்மையிலும், தன் வேலையைத் தள்ளிவைத்துவிட்டு அந்தத் தம்பதியை அழைத்துக் கொண்டு டோக்கியோ முழுக்கச் சுற்றிக் காண்பிக்கிறார். இரத்த பந்தத்தை விட அன்பே மேலானது என்பதை நோரிகோவின் கதாபாத்திரம் உணர்த்துகிறது.
திரும்பிச் செல்லும் வழியில் தாயார் டோமிக்கு உடல்நலக்குறைவு ஏற்படுகிறது. அவர் கிராமம் திரும்பிய சில நாட்களில் காலமாகிறார். இறுதிச் சடங்கிற்காக வரும் பிள்ளைகள், தந்தைக்கு ஆறுதலாக இருப்பதைவிட தங்களது வேலையைச் சீக்கிரம் முடித்துவிட்டு ஓட வேண்டும் என்பதிலேயே குறியாக இருக்கிறார்கள். தாயின் மறைவுக்குப் பிறகு, தந்தை ஷுகிச்சி அந்தப் பெரிய வீட்டில் தனிமையாக்கப்படுகிறார்.
மூத்த பிள்ளைகள் கிளம்பிச் செல்ல, நோரிகோவிடம் தன் மனைவியின் கைக்கடிகாரத்தைப் பரிசாகக் கொடுக்கிறார் ஷுகிச்சி. "என் சொந்தப் பிள்ளைகளை விட நீயே எங்களுக்கு நன்மைகள் செய்தாய்" என்ற பாராட்டுடன், தனிமை எனும் யதார்த்தத்தை ஏற்றுக்கொண்டு அவர் அமைதியாகக் கடற்கரையைப் பார்த்திருப்பதுடன் படம் முடிகிறது.
