#subwaygate still going strong this morning. Convinced it’s mainly bots or racists with loads of accounts. Learned some new theories though. Just waiting for a racist flat earther for bingo.
Major update on @GovDunleavy’s State of the State address to the #akleg, which quickly became known as #subwaygate. Dunleavy is a big @SUBWAY guy.
Met with Jenna Marshall, the manager of the Government Hill Subway. She confirmed Dunleavy does in fact come to the Subway on Government Hill. She said he either orders the BMT or Steak and Cheese.
One of Dunleavy’s staffers came by the Government Hill Subway earlier this month with a video message from Dunleavy inviting her to the State of the State address. I saw the video and it was clear he knew her.
I also heard from several of Dunleavy’s current and former staffers that reported that Dunleavy does in fact have a hardcore love for Subway sandwiches. A longtime Juneau person also said he used to frequent the Downtown Juneau Subway before it closed.
We can now move on from this matter and focus on the big issues facing Alaska.
Part of @GovDunleavy's State of the State speech to the #akleg focused on a woman who is the manager of the @SUBWAY on Government Hill. Dunleavy said, "It's a frequent lunch spot for myself." He was highlighting her as a person who works hard with kids and does not come to Juneau or have a lobbyist in Juneau.
After the speech she was scurried away from the gallery to the third floor. I wanted to ask her what his order is and how often he comes to the Subway on Government Hill.
I asked one of his press people if I could talk to her. Was told that she is shy and that I needed to provide the questions.
I sent her the following message on Facebook messenger:
"Jenna, I am a reporter that follows the Legislature. I was at the state of the state tonight. I had a few questions I wanted to ask about the governor and your being part of the speech. Do you have a few minutes?"
She replied "Yes," but when I tried to reply I was prevented because she blocked me on Facebook.
This whole thing is very suspect. Anchorage Assembly member Chris Constant, who has lived on Government Hill since 2018, told the Landmine he's never seen Dunleavy at the Subway on Government Hill or on Government Hill period. Rep. Cliff Groh, who has lived on Government Hill since 2021, said the same.
Does anyone really believe Dunleavy frequents the Subway on Government Hill?
