@VijayanMD @bbqfranklin some people plan their itineraries around what talks they want to hear...
I learned from @keepingitrenal (and others) years ago - conferences are just a vehicle to eat great meals w/ great friends (old and new)
Austin provides a blending of 2 passions - #nephbbq and #nephcc/#AKI
@NephroGuy @Tubulocentric @ArgaizR @Thind888 @msiuba @ThinkingCC @khaycock2 @MDBeni @katiewiskar @load_dependent @curromir @NephroP @rdelaespriella @jmanriquees @bover_j Nephrologists do like their formal names. Maybe thats why folks don’t like nephrology. #FST doesn’t have anything to do with urine sodium but I totally agree that you can use sodium to understand how successful your diuresis is going and if you need to add more #nephcc
@VijayanMD @menonshina @drjosflynn @jodismith0820 @slgold777 @BasuND22 @DanielleSoranno Thanks for the kind words and sweet Stevie gif @VijayanMD
Our community is only made stronger by making it more diverse.

Its why I love the #nephcc crew.
@draustinhansen @NephJC_Podcast @edgarvlermamd hope you enjoy the book as much as we enjoyed putting it together. remember to not eat 30 minutes before your dive in because you might cramp up. but if you do cramp, you may find the chapters on electrolytes useful... #nephCC #nephjokes
I am going to start rebranding CRRT as “advance kidney failure options.”
e.g. I am sorry this patient is not a candidate for advanced options.
Or
this patient can have a time limited trial of “advanced options” as a bridge to recovery.
It’s not for everyone…#nephcc
great paper @AzraBihorac persistent AKI and lack of recovery are major issues - but what I Iove most is that the journal has an option to down the paper and the supplement all in one document - #gamechanger #AKI #nephcc
Largest study to date to show the negative impact of persistent acute kidney injury and lack of renal recovery on mortality in ICU and non-ICU patients. https://t.co/jG81KfKHBy @kellumja @TBaslanti @girish_nadkarni @jaykoyner @skanegill @KSusztak @HumphreysLab @slgold777
@DrPradeepnephro @edgarvlermamd @kidney_boy Enjoy!
Hope you like the book and find it an easy read #nephcc
@NephCrit_NM @ChristosArgyrop @kidney_boy @kidney_boy isn’t the only one w/ tuition payments / kids.….#NephCC #aki
@weddellite @prakashneph @edgarvlermamd @kidney_boy @NephroGuy I know you are teasing but, he graciously wrote the foreword / introduction. in it, he talks about the fantastic international #nephcc community he and others helped to build. this book doesn't happen without @croncoIRRIV grateful for his mentorship and friendship. #AKI
@pranavgarimella @kidney_boy @edgarvlermamd you are gonna love the surprise ending...
looking forward to hearing your thoughts (besides not enough uromodulin mentions) #nephcc
@VijayanMD @FutureDocs @UChicagoMed @kidney_boy @edgarvlermamd @VijayanMD we are waiting for ours too. I had hoped they would arrive today - (shipping in advance) but I have not heard of anyone else getting their copies yet. But mine shipped to the office. Thanks for you fantastic chapter on PIRRT - and friendship over the years. #nephcc
The #nephcc community is a diverse group with a passion for improving the care of those with AKI/critical illness. Thanks to all who contributed chapters from around the globe discussing all aspects of kidney-focused ICU care. I learned so much doing this #grateful #toomanynames
20 years ago this week I arrived @UChicagoMed as a truly undifferentiated IM intern. Today The Handbook of Critical Care Nephrology (edited with @kidney_boy @edgarvlermamd) is available. So grateful to the #nephcc community who supported this. New interns, you will find your way
@NephroGuy @NephJC_Podcast Agreed it’s an exciting pilot. the findings are interesting and speak to the importance of fluid management which nephrologists and intensivist can both play a role in. And it demonstrates that multi center non-dialytic trials in AKI are feasible and should be done. #nephcc
@NephCrit_NM @hswapnil @NephJC_Podcast @captainchloride @kidney_boy @sophia_kidney @doc_faubel thanks for sharing- this author list is a who's who of the Global (Eur/Aus and beyond) Neph-CC community. Like I was saying - the US community could be better organized. #nephcc
@NephCrit_NM @hswapnil @NephJC_Podcast @captainchloride @kidney_boy @sophia_kidney @doc_faubel Sign me up for the AKINet! several groups out there but need to expand and work together. US s behind Canada and Europe where some networks already in place.
don't see that many folks with non-oliguric AKI get to BUN140 w/out an indication- there are some but <10% #nephcc
@VijayanMD @NephroGuy @paomorejon @ArmelleID @aishaikh @kidneypathology @mannonmom @DrRonWald @scoca1 @VelezNephHepato @PulmCrit @NephRodby @onconeph @Anju88mohan @always_oncall @Renoplant @BAsherEM great minds @VijayanMD great minds.
didnt have to stop too many gtt this past week (which was nice) and actually had to assure some that yes, a patient "needed" 160 IV furosemide BID + some intermittent diuril... to help decongest and improve kidney function...#nephcc #AKI #FST
@NephroGuy @paomorejon @ArmelleID @aishaikh @VijayanMD @kidneypathology @mannonmom @DrRonWald @scoca1 @VelezNephHepato @PulmCrit @NephRodby @onconeph very kind, but every day may be a lot. @Anju88mohan & I just finished a week of ICU consults. we had fun, learned & laughed (mainly @ ourselves); I suspect she was looking forward to time away from dad jokes, ??s about volume status & goals of care talks to not start RRT #nephcc
@mitra_nad giving a tour de force @uofcneph grand rounds on the history, diagnosis and management of AKI in the setting of cirrhosis. tackling albumin infusions, terlipressin, biomarkers of AKI (NGAL, FENa), MELD imperfections & offering trials of critical care/RRT #nephcc #AKI
