Back Ground Verification (BGV) – A Growing Challenge for IT Employees
In the IT sector, background verification has turned into a major hurdle.
Earlier it was limited to verifying #experienceletters & #PF records, but now companies are also asking how the employee was, how their work was, and even about project issues long after they’ve left.
Shouldn’t BGV be restricted to:
✅ PF & service record verification
✅ Police verification
✅ Relieving & experience letters
The interview process should evaluate the candidate’s technical skills, teamwork, and professionalism — not depend on subjective remarks from a previous employer.
Recent Success by #FITE Forum:
A senior IT professional with 24 years of experience faced an Amber BGV due to a “pending FNF” remark from his old employer.
This issue dated back 3 years, related to a project inquiry initiated by a client.
Despite successfully working in another company for 3 years, his new top MNC in Hinjawadi marked his BGV Amber again for the same old reason.
He approached #FITE, we intervened, initiated communication, and his BGV was cleared.
Later, even the client BGV team flagged it again — this time, employee escalated to the #LabourOffice, communication send to old org after which the case was resolved, FNF cleared, and the inquiry officially closed.

Such cases show why BGV rules need clear, fair, and time-bound guidelines.
