Congratulations to the new owners of Tiger. For decades, this one-of-a-kind instrument has brought joy to the @GratefulDead community, and we’re glad to know it has found a home with someone who appreciates the magic Doug Irwin built so many years ago.
More than anything, Tiger was made to roar. We hope it finds its way into the hands of those who will be good stewards of this music’s legacy. The true spirit of this guitar lives in the music it was built to create. May it continue to inspire curiosity, connection, and a little bit of wonder for years to come. – The Jerry Garcia Family
We’ve all been that idiot unfortunately, glad you made it out OK.
I had a close call with my family last season while touring up to Frog Lake huts…surprise blizzard, zero visibility, broken splitboard binding all combined to create a truly frightening experience.
We still love powder and tree runs but always carry beacons and full avy gear even when riding the resort.
Snow sports will never be risk free but I also vow to never be that big of an idiot again.
‘The Thinking Game’ documentary has just passed 200M views on YouTube in just 4 weeks! 🤯Perfect holiday viewing if you’re interested in a behind-the-scenes look at how an AGI lab works, or what goes into making a Nobel Prize winning project like AlphaFold happen.🧬🚀
Honestly Katie Ledecky swimming with a glass of chocolate milk perfectly balanced on her head might be more mind blowing than winning seven Olympic golds…
@sama It’s like jacking into the Matrix. Last night I had a deep dive conversation with Jung, and learned more in 2 hours than I had reading several of his books. For almost any topic, this is my new default learning mode - at least to gain baseline knowledge.
o3 and o4-mini are super good at coding, so we are releasing a new product, Codex CLI, to make them easier to use.
this is a coding agent that runs on your computer. it is fully open source and available today; we expect it to rapidly improve.
Introducing DolphinGemma, an LLM fine-tuned on many years of dolphin sound data 🐬 to help advance scientific discovery. We collaborated with @dolphinproject to train a model that learns vocal patterns to predict what sound they might make next. It’s small enough (~400M params) to run directly on Pixel 9 phones used in the ocean! A very cool step toward enabling interspecies communication.
"To fund his golfing ambitions, McIlroy's parents took on extra jobs. Gerry worked 100 hours a week; he cleaned toilets and showers at a local sports club in the mornings, served as a bartender at Holywood Golf Club from 12 to 6 pm, then returned to the sports club to work behind the bar in the evenings. Rosie looked after Rory during the day, and worked night shifts packaging rolls of tape at a 3M factory in Bangor, County Down. Due to their conflicting schedules, McIlroy's parents rarely saw each other during this period. Gerry later said: "I had no idea what else to do. I’m a working-class man. We wanted to give our only child a chance."
After finding success as a professional golfer, McIlroy bought his parents a house in 2009, and stated: "I’ll never be able to repay Mum and Dad for what they did, but at least they know they’ll never have to work another day. I’ll do whatever it takes to look after them."
First coding test was impressive. Appreciate the model being transparent about the complexity of the ask and not overpromising what it can deliver. Vibe coding can be fun but for real production projects you need a model that is pragmatic and self-aware of its own limitations.
1/ Gemini 2.5 is here, and it’s our most intelligent AI model ever.
Our first 2.5 model, Gemini 2.5 Pro Experimental is a state-of-the-art thinking model, leading in a wide range of benchmarks – with impressive improvements in enhanced reasoning and coding and now #1 on @lmarena_ai by a significant margin. With a model this intelligent, we wanted to get it to people as quickly as possible.
Find it on Google AI Studio and in the @geminiapp for Gemini Advanced users now – and in Vertex in the coming weeks. This is the start of a new era of thinking models – and we can’t wait to see where things go from here.
The most dangerous thought in life is “if only…” Nothing that follows those words comes true. Embrace reality. Think. Pick a course of action & execute. The amount of time & energy people waste wishing things & others were different instead of leaning into their agency is sad.
@adymitruk@dhh For sure just my opinion. I’m not a fanboy and have tried many alternatives. Love Linux but not as a daily desktop. I personally love the feel of Apple products/OS, but open is definitely better than closed and I often choose 3rd party apps over Apple ones.
Another batch of features for Claude Code!
Up first: Vim mode. This gives you the familiar insert/command modes for editing your prompts in Claude Code. Turn it on by typing the slash command /vim.
But that's not all:
