Strength and Conditioning is Sports Science
BUT
Sports Science is NOT Strength and Conditioning
This has huge links to our graduate expectations and skills evaluation
@MJPLanceW I’m not sure of the reference of this data (and question these figures) but I think it’s very difficult to accurately quantify physiological demands in ballet. Not least because the physical requirements of each different performance and each different role are so varied!
Proud to have been @BRB under David Bintley’s tenure. Some of my career highlights were in his ballets but as the curtain comes down on the company’s final performance under his directorship I want to congratulate him & wish him happiness for the next chapter of his life!
Excited to be able to share our experiences and philosophies of human movement. Always great to work with Ed from @athlete_academy and I’m looking forward to this on behalf of @UKSCA

On behalf of @UKSCA with @jamiembond...
We’re boiling down a combined 40 years in ballet, rugby, football, military fitness and our global travels in S&C to discuss the most vital movements everyone should master
@athlete_academy@cryptpe Great to catch up Ed and to continue learning from your vast experiences! As always it was a privilege to observe your great work - not just training but educating youth athletes #LTAD#lifeskills
@dr_jump_uk@mboyle1959@Jeffreyseejr@davecarolan I’ve tried to create different problems to solve within the task of box drops. 1 - on landing ‘freeze’ as quickly as possible. 2 - land ‘as quiet as a mouse’. Must be age appropriate but these cues seem to be pretty effective regarding the landing stiffly/softly logic for impulse
In sport most people reach a certain level of expertise and then don’t improve further. This is because they don’t practice with a focus on improving.
The same happens in coaching. Coaching experience is only practice that leads to improvement if it’s reflected on.
Excited to be heading up to Man City academy to present to coaches and support staff on all things ‘asymmetry’ (what else).
A decent amount of meaningful literature in ⚽️ on this topic now, hopefully this can provide some practical take-home messages.
