The Canadian govt takes pride in having universal healthcare yet many Canadians struggle to pay for their medications. With the rising cost of living, patient non-adherence will only worsen. Why should people have to financially suffer to have a normal quality of life? #PHARM4420
@KaylaWatton I 100% agree Kayla! Patients can get their life saving medications for free in a hospital yet have to spend sometimes a large sum of money at a pharmacy that many can’t afford. Why only cover medications when a patient is ill enough that they require hospitalization? #PHARM4420
@_ashakennedy Very well said Asha! Throwing more money at the problem isn’t going to solve the issues with our healthcare system! No patient chooses to have their medical conditions so why should they have to suffer financially in order to have a normal quality of life? #pharm4420
@kldeer18 I 100% agree Kim! Patients that need life saving medications shouldn’t have to pick between their meds or their groceries/rent for the month. If preventative medications were covered not only would it reduce the acute medications needed but also the hospitalization occurrences.
Did you know 1 in 4 Newfoundlanders are without a family physician? If NL implements pharmacist-led clinics, pharmacists could help provide greater access to services such as prescribing for minor ailments, giving vaccinations, chronic disease care and more! #Pharm4420
@KaylaWatton Great to see the addition of the minor ailments list! Many people don’t realize that pharmacist are capable of prescribing for such conditions, hopefully with the increase of pharmacist-led clinics in Canada, more and more people will be made aware of the service! #pharm4420
@HillaryRandell1 Well said Hillary! In rural NL family physicians are harder and harder to come by and with hospitals being so few and far between, pharmacy-led clinics could drastically improve the health conditions of those living out in rural communities! #pharm4420
@Brooke16831 The sooner the better! Hopefully our province decides to open a pharmacist-led clinic soon so we can take some pressure off of the family physicians during this doctor shortage and to help decrease the long emergency wait times! #pharm4420
@JinhyeongKim11 I like that you related how beneficial pharmacist-led clinics are to the major role pharmacist played during Covid! We seen how helpful minor ailment prescribing is with paxlovid, if clinics were open for pharmacists to focus on this service many people would benefit #Pharm4420
