More than 15 years of quality engineering experience.

Laid off in August 2025.

Then he spent more than a year looking for another job in tech.

Applications filtered out.
Recruiters ghosted him.
Interviews that never happened.

Eventually, he gave up.

His next career?

Driving a school bus.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with driving a school bus. It’s important, honest work.

But something is deeply broken when an American with 25 years at one of the world’s premier software companies can’t find another job in tech while we’re simultaneously told America has such a shortage of tech talent that employers need hundreds of thousands of foreign-worker positions.

This is what gets lost in the H-1B debate.

These aren’t statistics.

They’re people.

Before we search the world for another tech worker, shouldn’t Americans like him at least get a fair shot?

The new president of the Catholic Biblical Association is a Jew.

She says Christians have spent centuries unfairly maligning the Pharisees, insists “Pharisee” should no longer be synonymous with “hypocrite,” and says some biblical texts “need a warning label.”

She has even asked why Christians can't “change Sunday readings” that she believes prejudice Christians against Jews.

Amy-Jill Levine's project as president of the Catholic organization will be to rehabilitate the Pharisees, revise troublesome lectionary readings, recast Jesus as a Jewish teacher rather than Lord and Savior, and dismantle traditional readings of the Bible's prohibitions on homosexuality and abortion, some “Judeo-Christian ethic” thrown in for spice.

In short:

She wants to demote Jesus from Lord and Savior to a Jewish mascot to educate Christians about their “Jewish roots” and now she's president of the Catholic Biblical Association.

Teshon Gardner (23) raped a woman in her home at gunpoint but that wasn't depraved enough for him.

When he realized the woman's 12 year old daughter was also in the home, he stoped his ongoing rape of the woman and found the 12 year old little girl.

The conservatives on here denying the affordability crisis are engaged in what I can only describe as an act of political suicide. They're also lying, which is the worst part. Grocery prices are up. Housing. Energy. Insurance. Health care. Basic living expenses. It's real. It's happening. Denying it just makes you look out of touch, deceitful, and untrustworthy. It's also a completely unnecessary and unforced error. No credible person is claiming that Trump caused these price surges. My son works full time here in Florida. Let me run his numbers.

State minimum wage is $14/hour. He's at $15.

40 hours a week = $600/week
That's about $2,600/month before taxes.

Florida has no state income tax the thing they sell you on. So after federal and FICA he takes home roughly $2,200.

Average one-bedroom in our area runs about $1,600.

That's 73% of his entire paycheck gone to rent before he eats a single meal.

Leaves him around $600 a month for:

- groceries
- gas
- car insurance
- health insurance
- phone
- emergencies
- savings

Car insurance alone eats a third of that in this state.

He works 40 hours a week and cannot save a dollar. Not because he's careless because there's nothing left to be careless with.

I spent thirty years paying off a house here. He's doing the same job I did at his age and he can't afford a one-bedroom.

That's not a discipline problem. That's not avocado toast.

The floor moved and nobody lowered the ceiling.

Working full time should cover a roof. In Florida it barely covers the rent on one.

Got approached by two park rangers in full gear today for teaching tennis to my own children. Empty park, 3:15pm on a Thursday.

No permit, $192 fine. Unless you can prove the students came out of you. I asked my kids to confirm I’m their dad.

Somewhere in San Francisco an actual crime is happening, but at least the forehand situation is under control.
