Another of many papers from our NSF Dimensions of Biodiversity grant, led by our Chinese colleagues Drs. Jianquan Liu and Tao Ma and Matt Olson from Texas Tech:
Featured Article: Repeated turnovers keep sex chromosomes young in willows: https://t.co/vn0F0LyXZS
We really enjoyed working with Ken on this project. Hope we can get more NSF funding to continue it. Genetic Mapping of Sexually Dimorphic Volatile and Non-volatile Floral Secondary Chemistry of a Dioecious Willow https://t.co/MdEH4QL2pV
Nisa Karimi and coauthors show that baobabs in South Africa are pollinated by hawkmoths rather than bats and have odors that attract hawkmoths. Selection for mixed pollination? Or an ongoing evolutionary transition? Or? @keefoverring @baobabbaum https://t.co/khYqrid2wX
Learn more about Professor Rick Lindroth's @LindrothLab career in a commentary I wrote in the current issue (November 2021) of the Tremblings Newsletter from Western Aspen Alliance https://t.co/6YNv169Vz1
Our @PNAS paper addressing how growth-defense tradeoffs shape genetic structure of aspen populations is now online! Kudos to @ocopeo for leading this effort, with assistance from @keefoverring and E Kruger. https://t.co/FIIHYgH0Yl #NSFFunded#UWMadison#ChemicalEcology#aspen
2020 saw the 3 largest wildfires in CO history. The @NSF has awarded Prof Rebecca Barnes and collaborators $844,435 to study soil after wildfires. Prof Corey Hutchins and @JournalismatCC will also develop a wildfire-focused journalism class as part of the grant.
Please join we in congratulating Linh Nguyen with the successful defense of her masters thesis, entitled: Chemical Ecology of the Salicaceae and Implications for the Evolution and Maintenance of Dioecy!!
Congratulations Linh!!!!!
