@learn_think_run It's a great thread! No doubt individual responsiveness is important. I love the rubber bouncy ball theory too. Actually gearing up for a project to test that here soon.
@learn_think_run So that range from 3-5% in the benefit b/w days would essentially be a wash when trying to look at differences in individual responsiveness across different runners. This is the range I've seen in myself who tests a lot, could be larger for others.
@learn_think_run This isn't inconsequential, but to make strong claims about individual responsiveness we need a good study in the lit that looks at the between day benefit of a given shoe. From personal testing, I know I get around 4% avg in AF, but b/w days this can vary 3-5%...
@learn_think_run I do think the +/- 11% variation b/w individuals in the Knopp study are an anomaly. Increased variability likely due to some combination of: single trial per shoe instead of duplicate, 1-min window avg. instead of 2-min, comfortability w/ treadmill running in elite east africans?
@jfletcher14 It’s not on any difference values. Just a way to express the standard deviation as a percentage of the mean for reliability of repeated measures. I’ll email you some sample data I have and a few papers I’ve used as guide. I have not used MSE.
@jfletcher14@stevemagness@sweatscience When testing within-day and in duplicate, the CV on our Parvo is often below 0.5%. This is why we stated this value for the shoe vs spike individual comparisons. Certainly less than 1%. Likely larger on other carts and when not compring duplicate trials.
