Having spent the last few years at the chair myself, I can highly recommend it. It has been an excellent environment for pursuing a PhD, conducting research, and collaborating with outstanding colleagues. Please share if you know someone who might be interested!

The position is a great fit for candidates interested in macroeconomics, climate & environmental economics, economic growth, and quantitative methods. It also offers opportunities to collaborate within ECO-N, an interdisciplinary DFG-funded research training group.
Macro person here: how exactly am I supposed to run an experiment?
Aside from that, even when I do run DiD regressions, they don't usually identify anything casual---they're just useful conditional correlations in calibration exercises.

The International Economic Review has just published a new exciting paper by Thomas Steger and Timo Trimborn on The Legacy of Policy Inaction in Climate-Growth Models. It is available through @WileyEconomics here: https://t.co/pTbEwkKHiC
@farmerrf I don’t see how the “as many shocks as observable” criticism relates to the NKM. To me, any model that perfectly replicates multiple time series with fewer random perturbations is not a model, but rather the true data-generating process…smaller shocks = better model.
New working paper!
What if shopping time is the missing NK friction?
➡️ Euler slope up to 10× flatter (policy less powerful)
➡️ Phillips curve 12% steeper
➡️ Search shocks = microfounded cost-push

"lol you can see very clearly that Economists are using Stata to help running regressions, rather than doing matrix algebra by hand" - Use ChatGPT as much as you want folks, just review the output carefully afterwards!
Based on various requests, you can find the lecture materials and codes for the mini-course on "Deep Learning for Solving Dynamic Stochastic Models" here: https://t.co/EdhCkboC7x
Hope some of you have fun with it! @MarlonAzinovic
@WC0leman Based on the experience of teaching with you, I can totally imagine that you have done a great job! It is such a great contribution to the community to put so much effort into teaching, on top of all the PhD stress. Hope @BSE_Berlin appreciates it!
