@mgonto I’m pretty sure that you can “feel” just by contemplating art with context of the story behind it. They tell stories; and stories transmit emotions! 😉
@mgonto As a marketing guy you know it’s not the thing itself but the story we tell behind it. And there’s not much story behind a chatgpt generated art!
@mgonto It’s not the art itself. But what it means. The symbol, sense of belonging to something else, sense of being different.
And that it’s in all we do. Like or not. Foodies like to taste strange food inventions not because it tastes better, but because it’s unique 😉
BIG news for @selfxyz x @Google, HERE is what investors* are missing:
1)Credible Neutrality - @Google, @Meta, @X, etc. (world's largest networks) are never going to work with @worldcoin/@OpenAI /@sama, because they’re direct competitors (with de-platform risk), needs to be a credible neutral third party like @selfxyz.
2)Biometric ID, NOT Eyeballs - @selfxyz taps on the network of existing government-issued IDs without divulging any personally identifable information.
Scanning people’s eyeballs is creepy, do you really think governments around the world are going to be cool with a private company taking scans of their citizens eyeballs at scale?
3)Humanness, NOT Aliveness - Self obtains relevant meta-data (gender, age, country, etc.) using Zero-Knowledge Proofs, enabling uses cases like ensuring stablecoin payment recipients aren’t from OFAC sanctioned countries without divulging personally identifiable information, that are not possible with just scanning eyeballs.
*@VerdaVentures MiniPay Fund is an investor in @selfxyz and represents our bet on the future of identity <> stablecoin payments in a post-AI world.
🗺️ @cLabs just published their updated roadmap, outlining their plans to continue driving Celo's evolution as a frontier chain scaling @Ethereum for global impact 🌐
🧵 Check out @mcortesi5's Celo Community Forum post & keep reading this thread for a recap! ↓
10 things I "hate" about @Celo:
1. I hate that Celo is moving from being an L1 to an OP-Stack @ethereum L2 this month… because now it’s going to be even faster, and I’ll have no excuse for slow transactions.
2. I hate that Celo focuses on real-world use cases instead of speculation… because it means people are actually using crypto for payments, commerce, and lending instead of just gambling.
3. I hate that @Minipay and @Valora have millions of normie users… because now my Web3 friends have to admit that self-custody can be easy.
4. I hate that Celo’s L2 upgrade will have 1s block times and 50M gas/s… because waiting around for transactions to settle is such a fun pastime.
5. I hate that I can pay for gas with stablecoins and use @selfxyz's SelfConnect for phone number-based addresses… because I was really starting to enjoy copy-pasting long hex strings.
6. I hate that Celo has major partners like @Opera, @Kickstarter, @DeutscheTelekom, and @Telefonica… because it’s hard to pretend crypto is just a toy when these companies are all in.
7. I hate that Celo is the chain for stablecoins… because now there are so many choices that I don’t even know which one to use for gas. Just look at @tether USDT, @circle’s USDC, @MentoLabs (cUSD, cEUR, cREAL, cPHP, cKES, cCOP), @AngleProtocol, @BRLAdigital, and more.
8. I hate that the dev tooling is already solid and supports blue-chip protocols… because now I have no excuse not to start building immediately. Just ask @Uniswap, @CurveFinance, @Bancor, @rarible, @etherscan, @blockscoutcom, @thirdweb, @chainlink, @redstone_defi, @hyperlane_xyz, @LayerZero_Core, @wormholecrypto, @axelarcore, @squidrouter, @Anchorage, @BitGo, and @CoinbaseInsto.
9. I hate that Celo has tons of on/off ramp options and exchange listings… because onboarding users is way too easy. Shoutout to @RampNetwork, @moonpay, @Transak, @fonbnk1, @cashramp, @usepartna, @bitmamaexchange, and @yellowcard_app.
10. And most of all, I hate that every transaction on Celo programmatically offsets CO2 emissions through the Ultragreen Money program… because now I can’t even feel guilty about using blockchain.
Come build with us. I dare you.

@CoinbaseAssets Surprised to read this. Technically doesn’t make sense. Celo L2 is the simplest possible migration for any infra operator. It’s just a hardfork, and the need for a new client. Which is already common as Base and OP use same infra.
It’s not wanting to support it
@CoinbaseAssets timing surprises me. They know this for almost a year.
At least have the etiquette to say this ahead of time.
Speaks so badly about the space if the one the biggest player behaves likes this. Then go talk about decentralization and freeing the world from “evil banks”.
@CoinbaseAssets@coinbase why make this announcement in the 11th hour when the intention for Celo to migrate to an L2 has been public for over a year now? It’s difficult not to wonder if there’s an ulterior motive at play.
