These galaxies are “dancing” and “twirling,” and will ultimately merge. Irregular features like long tails, asymmetrical structures, and two bright cores are telltale signs of galaxy mergers. NGC 3256 was observed by Hubble and is 100 million light-years away.

🚨 NASA confirms March 6 is the earliest possible launch date for Artemis II 🚀
"NASA assessed additional dates in March as potential launch opportunities but have since determined March 6th is the earliest potential date."
(per @CNN)
We're targeting Thursday, Feb. 19, as the tanking day for the second fueling test ahead of our Artemis II test flight around the Moon. A formal launch date will not be set until after a successful rehearsal and data reviews. Details: https://t.co/QWuBLYzKdk
@andres_folguera estamos de acuerdo con tus palabras con respecto a la urbanizacion sin control ni atender a estudios cientificos muchos investigadores de diferentes especialidades en la comunidad cientifica. Saludos @mdavidziuk
A toast to the first Friday of 2026 🥂

Under the light of the Wolf Moon, the next chapter begins. 🌕
The first full Moon of the year rises tomorrow as humanity prepares to return to the Moon with Artemis II, the first crewed flight test of the Orion spacecraft, in more than 50 years.
Bienvenido, 2026. 😎
¡¡¡GRACIAS!!!
Dark matter makes up 85% of the universe, but researchers, including Vera Rubin herself, historically have had a hard time finding it. https://t.co/4DafRquOQG
Shockwaves never looked so smooth
Ames researchers created a supercomputer simulation of the X-59 quiet supersonic aircraft to analyze the vehicle's potential performance. The dark and bright regions represent shockwaves and pressure variations. Weaker shockwaves spread from the lower surface of the aircraft, resulting in reduced noise at ground level.

It’s always better when we’re together 💕
This new mosaic combines Webb’s observations with @NASAHubble’s, increasing our understanding of open star clusters NGC 460 and NGC 456.

‼️✨ In the morning twilight, the Atacama Desert is one of the best places on the planet for astronomical observations. Its crystal-clear sky reveals the stunning beauty of delicate atmospheric colors. This is my image of the Moon and Venus rising above the Chilean Andes, near one of the AT telescopes at ESO’s Paranal Observatory. I hope you enjoy the view 😃
