This summer we upgraded our 56TB Postgres database with (almost) no downtime.
And we moved all new runs to @planetscale Metal.
This post covers everything we did and everything we learned along the way.

My blog post about how I manage agents is finally ready. It first explains my bespoke `plans` setup, and then explains how @cursor_ai new Projects feature enabled me |o do so much more. It was the missing piece for me. Check it out:

I went looking for a managed-Postgres provider.
Instead, I found a vulnerability in a 4-star PostgreSQL extension available everywhere!
and turned it into code execution at @neondatabase, @supabase, @xata and more.

Create PlanetScale Postgres and MySQL databases directly from Cloudflare. Use them with Workers and Hyperdrive for connection pooling and caching.

For my Cursor Compile talk I had agents live shard a database and because I built all my slides in code I was able to give the live status of the sharding process in real time while i talked through the content.
it's been fun poking around the @PlanetScale dashboard after we migrated one of our indexing workloads at @cursor_ai.
192 shards, 1PB of NVMe storage, 3M QPS during the migration peak. the p99.9s are so good I just asked @samlambert to add `max` to the graph.
Now that @PlanetScale supports postgis on Postgres I've been able to throw one of @nodecraft's projects on it for testing. I don't think I've seen our queries run this fast before. I also already immediately see areas to improve queries based on their insights.
Figured we'd make it even easier to build full-stack apps with @cloudflare Workers: Hyperdrive, our distributed connection pooler, now supports MySQL: https://t.co/0WFAtYNrav
p.s. Go build something big with Workers + PlanetScale.
Massive kudos to @samlambert and @PlanetScale team for jumping in and helping out **over the weekend**.
Choosing PlanetScale as your DB provider should be a no-brainer. It's a best in class tool that scales from zero to #1 on the App Store in a heartbeat.
@thdxr still WIP; want to have more test coverage + confidence in it before cutting a new release
which bugs? i may have already fixed, and if not could be good to add to the tests to increase that confidence. ty
