With a very heavy heart, we announce the passing of our CEO and co-founder, Susan Solomon, following a long battle with ovarian cancer. We owe all that NYSCF has accomplished to Susan, and no words can express our gratitude and awe for her catalytic impact on stem cell research.
Happy to share that our paper on new markers of a neurotoxic, reactive astrocyte sub-state is out! Huge thanks to @JunminPengLab, @Calabre04804429, @LiddelowSA, and most of all @fossati_v and @nyscf who made this possible. A 🧵. https://t.co/OWSzQ9lM1M
Ever wonder what the best in vitro model is for your neuro research? We do all the time. So we are crowd sourcing cellular model characterization. You send cells, we do bulk ATAC and RNA-seq, and give you the data back for free. Please RT! If interested - https://t.co/jfxc84hG07
Another hammer to the leaky pipeline for #WomenInSTEM: ~$500K less institutional startup support than men, with presumably no less expectations of scientific output 🤦🏽♀️
NYSCF - Robertson #StemCell Investigator Alumna @kristenbrennand of @Yale joined us last week to discuss critical topics around #WomeninSTEM including career advancement, mentorship, parenting, and other issues impacting work-life balance: https://t.co/wJ3KCLuvQz
We are very concerned to hear the NYS Stem Cell Science Program is likely being cut from the budget. Scientists funded by this program are conducting COVID-19 research. Could this be true in the middle of the pandemic? @NYGovCuomo@AndreaSCousins @CarlHeastie
Virtually every aspect of the COVID vaccine, from the lipid nanoparticles to the mRNA technology, was developed in academic labs using public funds. But in the public's mind the credit goes to companies like Moderna/Pfizer. This is a missed opportunity to celebrate basic research
Join @moderna_tx founder & NYSCF – Robertson #StemCell Investigator Alumnus Derrick Rossi & @SusanNYSCF (12/15, 5 PM ET) as they discuss his mRNA technology fueling #COVID19 vaccines, what to expect from them, & how #stemcells are providing hope for 2021: https://t.co/fkvJEkb9BF
1)After we publish our @NeuroCellPress paper on CD49f+ h astrocytes, many people reached out with interest in reproducing the model. We are happy to share the @STARProtocols paper that guide you through CD49f isolation and neurotoxicity assay https://t.co/MusIWd3BdN
I know many brilliant #stem cell biologists that I would love to see within the NYSCF community. Do not miss this opportunity to apply: 1.5 M USD over 5 years and a superb community waiting for you ;)
We reuse our Qiagen columns (any kind) without compromising the yield and any carry over DNA contaminations by soaking the columns in 1M HCl overnight and washing the coumns with 5X distilled water (1 column volume each time). Saves money and plastics.
