Excited to share this preprint with my postdoctoral work @theSilverlab.
We show that EIF4A3, the nucleating component of the Exon Junction Complex (EJC), directly controls #microtubules independent of #RNA, and this is critical for #brain wiring🧵👇1/8

The first paper of our lab is out! We investigate the processing of a mouse coronavirus RNA during infection. The viral RNA can exist in at least two states, with the transition between them being mediated by the poly(A) tail uridylases TUT4/7. [Thread] https://t.co/XqQTNLPgHe
Do astrocyte-secreted molecules control inhibitory synaptogenesis? Yes! What are those molecules? I’m happy to share the answer to this long-standing question in the preprint of my postdoctoral work in @c_eroglu lab: https://t.co/CqEKqJXuyh 🧵⬇️

@macmanes I would say that the US relies a lot on international postdocs and doesn't treat them very well. The visa system is very difficult, the pay is average, there are few rights in terms of vacation leave or pension schemes and on top the pandemic has made travel even harder.
The first review of the lab on post-transcriptional regulation in spermatogenesis is out, published with @SpringerNature in CMLS. Read here: https://t.co/JgvMsn70tu

@ElinVidevall Not having the visa stamps on our passports also limits out careers because we are not able to travel to other countries for conferences or collaborations. Until now it wasn't that critical because everything was closed, but now things are reopening
Thanks for raising your voice
Many international students, postdocs (and some faculty) have it extra difficult right now because they cannot leave the US and visit family & friends in their home country, which they likely haven't seen for years.
Think it's important for PIs in the US to know about this.
