NEW YORK CITY, YOU LISTEN TO ME. IF YOU'RE NEAR A CONVENIENCE STORE RIGHT NOW, ANY TYPE OF 24-HOUR STORE, GO INTO THE STORE RIGHT NOW AND PUT YOUR HAND IN THE CASH REGISTER FOR NO REASON.
Pink Pantheress, Kaytranada, Rochelle Jordan, Honey Dijon, Black Coffee, LSDXOXO, Channel Tres, Mason Collective, Skepta.. etc I could keep going.. dancefloors are good rn. highly recommend you go to one actually and dance till you pass out from dehydration.
The exhaustion you feel during early discipline is neuroplasticity in motion, because the brain burns significantly more energy building new pathways than maintaining old ones, and what feels like resistance is often just the cost of becoming mentally stronger.
Tech's fixation on taste and culture is ultimately neurotic careerists trying to justify normal things—like hanging out—on economic terms. They're incapable of accepting that they're just chilling or consuming. It all has to be a productive exercise in "building tech culture".
Alysa Liu recently went viral for her Teen Vogue rant on the state of the information environment and the population's cognitive resilience.
"We really are living in a cognitive wild west. Most people have near-zero memetic defenses or cognitive security suited for the online age". She adds, "any semblance of it is easily brute-forced by the onslaught of information & the situation is even worse when it comes to AI agent-orchestrated psyops."
if AI starts handling a lot of the "simpler" parts of jobs, a lot of jobs are going to basically be tasks that require high cognition constantly and making a lot of high weight decisions
this is a different muscle that people who "knock out tasks" are not used to - and honestly is very mentally taxing
Folks in tech do not appreciate that the entire country is polarized against tech. Bernie wants a data center ban, and Bannon seems close to calling a Butlerian jihad.
The only thing AI seems to offer most Americans is job loss and more billions for billionaires.
We need a better story! A better story about how AI is good for America that we both believe and will see through.
People do not care about competition with China when they can’t afford a house and healthcare is bankrupting them. If you are in tech it is part of your job to help address some of these concerns in society.
If you want our industry to flourish, and you earnestly believe we will be better off in 5 years by embracing AI, you need to start showing ordinary people a reason to believe you and quickly.
Periodic reminder that housing cannot be both affordable and a means of building wealth. Those two concepts are diametrically opposed to each other. If you're going to make housing affordable for young people it's going to reduce the wealth of the Boomers.
They'll forget DOGE because it disproved their worldview. They genuinely believe that the government is run by DEI idiots and that a few cracked kids could clean it all up. It completely failed, accomplished nothing, and left a trail of bodies. SV will pretend it never happened.
@CthlcNtnlst@Captain_Fubar wow youre so right we should just dip the whole city in ember and fossilize it. freeze it in time while also wanting it to be a cutting edge tech city, no issues there
