🇷🇼 Jailed for speaking out. Rwandan opposition leader
Victoire Ingabire Umuhoza was arrested in June 2025.
The UN Special Rapporteur on Freedom expression and opinion stated her arrest was clear retaliation for exercising her freedom of expression.
The UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention has officially declared her arrest arbitrary. As part of her tireless quest for democracy, Ms Ingabire dared to demand justice for murdered and missing opposition members.
In her 2023 Al Jazeera op-ed, she wrote: “I want justice for my colleagues who were killed or disappeared while fighting for a truly democratic #Rwanda.” When political leaders face life sentences or thier life is at risk merely for demanding accountability and democracy, the international community cannot look away.
📢 Stand up for free speech.

#Rwanda

No one should be imprisoned for standing up for freedom.
@VictoireUmuhoza, WLC member, should not be behind bars. Her sons are part of WLC’s Free Them program, standing alongside families affected by political imprisonment. We call for her immediate release—and for the release of all political prisoners worldwide.
But freedom is only the beginning. WLC’s After Liberation Handbook is available free at https://t.co/5ioz10L4iO, while the PPST offers dedicated online support to help former political prisoners navigate reintegration.
Hello, beautiful young Rwandan! 😍 Welcome to Episode 7 of our campaign. Today, we expose the truth about General #CharlesMuhire, a hidden commander protected by the @rpfinkotanyi ’s total cover up.
While the government hides his bad actions, #UN files and survivors testimonies tie Muhire’s leadership to a shocking path of post 1994 massacres.
Under his direct power, military teams carried out brutal attacks, illegal killings, wrongful jailings, and violent revenge actions against peaceful villagers.
Outside #Rwanda, Muhire's troops marched straight into the #Congo, running secret war operations that left behind massive civilian deaths.
The #RPF locked away all the evidence to keep him out of independent courts, using this unfair system to save him from war crime trials.
#MillenZMovementRw✊ will break this wall of secrecy. Say no to these protected war criminals!

• le retour volontaire, sûr et digne des centaines de milliers de réfugiés rwandais ;
• la disparition progressive des mouvements politico-militaires nés de cette crise des réfugiés ;

Hello, beautiful young Rwandan! 😍 Welcome to Episode 6 of our series. Today, we expose the truth about #DanMunyuza, the cruel enforcer running the RPF’s global network of fear and cross border terror.
As the former Inspector General of Police, #Munyuza turned Rwanda into a lawless police state. Human rights groups link his command to a horrific trail of arbitrary arrests, torture safehouses, and forced disappearances of independent journalists and political rivals.
Most chillingly, #Munyuza is responsible of running a terrifying, repetitive campaign of cross border #Poisonings,a wicked man who enjoys poisoning other people's children while his own #Children enjoy their lives peacefully, using lethal toxins to violently silence exiled critics and former insiders in foreign capitals.
Because of these horrific extrajudicial operations, international coalitions are aggressively pushing for asset freezes and sweeping travel bans against him.
@MillenZMovementRw✊ will smash this accountability vacuum. Reject this ruthless enforcer!

Hello, beautiful young Rwandan! 😍 Welcome to Episode 5 of our series. Today, we tear down @titorutaremara4 , the evil ideological architect behind the @rpfinkotanyi’s most calculated slaughters .
While military thugs pulled the triggers, #Rutaremara was the political brain who justified the bloodshed. Different dossiers and survivor testimonies link him directly to horrific civilian massacres in #Murambi during 1994, where innocent citizens were systematically rounded up and executed in #RPF controlled zones.
Before the war even began, #Rutaremara directed dangerous, secret underground networks used to run covert operations. Strikingly, he remains a prime suspect behind the politically explosive assassination of prominent leader #FélicienGatabazi.
After 1994, #Rutaremara masterminded the regime's forced historical narrative, weaponizing laws to bury #RPF war crimes, revenge killings, and forced disappearances.
He even twisted his role as a government #Watchdog to run vicious political cleanups to force out rivals, while running PR damage control to whitewash the regime's secret torture safehouses.
He is so ruthless to extent he backed the political destruction of his own family, staying completely silent when his nephew, General #FrankRusagara, was thrown into prison. prison.
#MillenZMovementRw✊ will smash this accountability gap. Reject this puppet master!

Hello, beautiful young Rwandan😍Welcome to Episode 4 of our series. Today, we unmask General @KabarebeJames, a central architect of the #RPF’s bloodiest cross border atrocities.
For three decades, #Kabarebe has directed a horrific machinery of death. #UN investigations and the landmark UN #MappingReport link him to savage operations in #Congo, including brutal attacks on refugee camps, the slaughter of vulnerable women and children, executions, and enforced disappearances.
UN reports even conclude these systematic massacres of #Hutu refugees could constitute genocide.Indicted by a #Spanish judge in 2008 for war crimes and killing humanitarian workers, #Kabarebe has spent decades dodging international justice.
Beyond the mass murder of civilians, #UN experts expose #Kabarebe as a mastermind of illegal mineral trafficking networks, exploiting eastern #Congo's resource wealth through state sponsored instability.
@MillenZMovementRw✊ will never allow this accountability gap to stand. Reject these war criminals!
🚨Stay tuned for Episode 5..
Hello, beautiful young Rwandans😍Welcome to Episode 3 of our series. Today, we are pulling back the curtain on one of the regime's most powerful shadows,#ProtaisMusoni, an RPF architect and a living nightmare for #Rwandans.
As Préfet of #Kibungo (1994–1996), he orchestrated savage military crackdowns and arbitrary executions. Under the fraudulent #Imidugudu policy, Musoni masterminded demographic cleansing, stealing lands from local populations to hand them to @rpfinkotanyi elites . Returning #Hutus who dared claim their stolen property were executed on the spot.
Later, as Information Minister, he weaponized state courts to crush the independent newspaper #Umuseso and bury his massive corruption.
Today, this monster walks free while his daughter, @MusoniPaula , sits as ICT Minister, proud of a father who slaughtered countless other #Rwandan fathers.
#MillenZmovementRw will NEVER let these bloody criminals be called heroes. We must Stop the #RPF multi generational tyranny ASAP.

Hello beautiful young Rwandan,
Welcome to Episode 2 of our series : #EmmanuelKarenziKarake#KK is one of high profiles in Rwanda linked to the country's darkest wartime and post war abuses.
Intelligence structures under his leadership of identifying opponents for arrest or elimination, facilitating operations involving civilian massacres, enforced disappearances, targeted assassinations, unlawful detentions, attacks on refugees, and the killings of humanitarian workers.
In 2008, Spanish investigating judges indicted #KarenziKarake alongside other senior #RPF officers over the war crimes, crimes against humanity, and other serious violations committed during and after Rwanda's conflict.
In 2015, he was arrested in London on Spain's extradition request before British courts declined extradition, leaving untested at trial.
Human rights organizations have also linked institutions he led to torture, secret detention facilities, political repression, surveillance of dissidents, intimidation, and enforced disappearances.
#MillenZMovementRw✊
Hello beautiful young Rwandans, #MillenZMovementRw we have prepared 14 episodes for you explaining why the Inkotanyi keep making us believe that we must protect their achievements(“kurinda ibyagezweho”)
In reality, it is not about buildings and community work as they claim, but rather the hands of some powerful individuals that are covered in blood and who went unpunished because they hold power.
In #EPISODE 1 let’s talk about Charles Kayonga
Charles Kayonga, his rise to Chief of Defence Staff cannot erase the war crime dossiers trailing your career. He escaped international conviction only because @PaulKagame’s regime protects him.
Forces under his command slaughtered innocent civilians in #Rukara, #Gahini, #Nyakabuye, #Kiyenzi, #Ryamanyoni, #Nyawera, and #Kawangire. He cannot hide behind the chaos of war or destroyed documentation.
Furthermore, his name is tied to dangerous covert networks in Kigali and the explosive 1994 downing of President #Habyarimana’s plane. International law clearly shows that he is accountable for the atrocities your forces committed.
The global focus on the defeated regime allowed him to hide in an accountability gap, fueling decades of selective justice.
Winning the war does not grant immunity. Over thirty years later, justice remains incomplete because his crimes were never examined.
#Kayonga remain a symbol of unpunished @rpfinkotanyi brutality. we must always remember this so we do not fall into the trap of thinking we are fighting for the country, when in fact criminals are using us as a shield to protect themselves.
See you tomorrow for 2nd episode 😍😍

No one can silence the voice of the people.
The voice of the people cannot be silenced by fear, crushed by tyranny, or extinguished by injustice. As long as the truth continues to be spoken, it will always prevail.
The voice of the people is the foundation of democracy, and democracy begins with the freedom to be heard .
In #Rwanda, we are governed by an authoritarian regime that fears democracy and freedom of expression. The imprisonment of @VictoireUmuhoza demonstrates that there is no independent #judiciary in Rwanda. Instead, the judicial system is used as a tool to silence political opponents and deny them their political rights .
@UN@UNHumanRights@hrw@HRF@UN_HRC@US_SrAdvisorAF@USAmbRwanda@EUCouncil .
Today marks 369 days since the unconstitutional arrest and detention of Rwanda’s most prominent political opposition leader, Ms. Victoire Ingabire Umuhoza. The Rwandan judiciary continues to systematically deny Ms. Ingabire her fundamental rights to family contact, religious practice, and a fair legal process.
