@Jason I think you’re right as a way of mitigating infrastructure costs, which will be a money maker, as will the apps layer. Models are going to get pressured hard. Would be better to own models and hardware than models alone, for sure.

@niek_olthof@lydiahallie API costs are high and when subscriptions are available, generally not worth it, but if you only love Claude, using Sonnet (especially 4.6) on Med maybe stomachable.
@niek_olthof@lydiahallie the Macs are about to be updated in the coming months too. If you run Hermes with a subscription then the on-device computer is near zero. If you host you own open source model you need to spend quite a lot on hardware to get a good enough model to not be disappointed
