@mwangwegoscript @Afrowave @JamraPatel @Sebastiangary1 It's unfortunate to see that the Malawian govt isn't supporting Mwangwego but FWIW we have seldom seen govts being the first to support new writing systems. If we can make Mwangwego work in computing in some capacity we can increase momentum in its spread and achieve encoding.

@mwangwegoscript @Afrowave I spoke to Unicode about the hold up and certainly government recognition of Mwangwego would expedite things but if we can show the spread of use it can be done sooner. We @JamraPatel did speak to @Sebastiangary1 about working on it some time ago. We should should revisit.

@srl295 @TiroTypeworks Of course! I was just trying to be funny (apparently unsuccessfully :) ) That being said, I do like looking at PUA implementations for unsupported languages. Sometimes it provides useful insights on what is deemed important by the language community.

@lianghai I had bene thinking of a rethinking of the OTL features but you are right this could probably just be done at the API level.

@lianghai It seems like any given writing system needs x number of iterations of replacing things, moving things, and reordering things (maybe a few other things). If we had predefined enough iterations of this one could presumably re-map may features back to the cycles.

@lianghai All of the script specific features seem like nice convenience features if you are working on a specific script with known shaping behavior but they are troublesome when you are not.
