In a great collaboration with @HummerLab and the Kräusslich lab, @jpkreysing, @MaziarHeidari1, @VojtechZila and others tackle what happens when HIV capsid goes through an NPC. Instead of the NPC cracking the capsid, the capsid appears to crack the NPC (@MPIbp@CiidHeidelberg).
Back with a cool paper from the @Beck_Laboratory showing that NPCs lacking Nup133 are quite messed up! Aberrant symmetries (7 and 9) and incomplete outer rings! Suggests that the outer rings are major safeguards of the 8-fold symmetry.
