Can leveraging genetically inferred ancestry improve polygenic prediction? We are delighted to have our work published in HGG Advances. Many thanks to @jacquesfellay, @zkutalik, @FlaviaHodel, Zhi Ming Xu, and @PMarquesVidal
Does competition between genes for cellular resources (like Pol II) contribute to the trans component of gene expression variance and complex trait variance? Check out the thread on this question by @yuvalsim with @o_naret.

What the impact of human genetic variation on HIV infection? Some lessons on how to better understand and fight viruses by scrutinizing the human genome. Happy to present our review with @fakepaulmclaren, just out in @NatureRevGenet
I officially became a doctor this week! It has been an exceptional adventure in @jacquesfellay's lab with a wide range of topics covered, all of which come together in the thesis title "The genetic architecture of complex human traits at the dawn of genomic medicine".
Great time at #ESHG2020 presenting our work on 'How accounting for global ancestry using PCs can improve clinical scores'
The virtual conference worked well and hopefully, it will become a standard option in the future for people sensitive about their CO2 footprint (among others)
Really enjoyed presenting the @PGSCatalog at #ESHG2020 - great questions and session with @o_naret@ninajmars@medina2276@sritchie73 and Jeroen van Rooij! Thanks to the moderators Vita Dolzan and Matti Pirinen as well!
Check it out on demand if you missed it!

“The fact that [risk scores] offer greater predictive value in individuals of European ancestry than others is perhaps the primary ethical & scientific challenge preventing their clinical implementation,” says Alicia Martin (@genetisaur) in @techreview https://t.co/MNKqU3pfFN
I was flipping through the AJHG from the conference bag last night, and it has a great GWAS review. It states very flatly that WGS won’t add much over array+imputation. Where is the disconnect / different assumption here? #ASHG18
Delighted to be in Frontiers in Genetics! Have you ever wanted to jointly analyze host and pathogen genomes? This will give you some useful directions. https://t.co/fQ5F6eMi9F
Running combined analyses of host and pathogen genomes? Check out our latest paper by @o_naret, @nimchat12 et al. in @FrontGenetics for useful methodological advice
@DABaranger @mbeisen@crowd_ai @gedankenstuecke @MeMohanty After checking and rechecking everything, I think that the dataset is fine now. I also confirm that if you don't correct at least for sex, the p-value distribution will be very disappointing :).
