@0xIanCleary@MakeAugusta It's a "mixed signal" D connector, the small positions take regular pins while the large positions can be fitted with either high current pins or coax pins.
@eswarpr@ChShersh In practice it became more of a lesson in the pitfalls of specialisation, you have to use special proxy objects rather than refular pointers/references, and there are nasty implications for thread safety.
@eswarpr@ChShersh The C++ stl desigmers hadthe clever idea to specialise std::vector<bool> and make it a bitset. 8x memory saving is great right? It's a perfext example of the power of specialization right?
@LauraAvocado@SirJimRoyle Not quite
WH smith sold their struggling "high street" buisiness to modella capital. The deal did not include the brand, so modella came up with the new brand TG Jones.
The profitable "travel" side of the buisness remains with WH Smith.
@TrainGuardChris@AshValeCommuter AIUI the instructions on the machine said you should insert coins to the value of your fare, or if you did not have sufficient coins to do that, to insert coins for as much of your fare as possible.
@abdimoalim_ A better term might be something like "move refference", it's a reference that gives the recioiant permission to move the value instead of copying it.
@HSVSphere@cursedconnector Normal ethernet ports don't provide power.
POE exists but I donpt think i've evwr seen a computer that supports acting as a poe source.
@mholt6 Tye obvious explantion wpuld be displaced demand, if large SSDs are unafordable, you buy a smaller SSD for the critical stuff and spinning rust f0r the remainder.
@ChuckZealous Sony did produce a MD data drive, but it had lackluster data capacity, and sony's paranoia about music piracy meant it's audio functionality was very limited.
@DermotMeagher@seidodge If you have a limit on a relavent parameter in a highly competitive situation, people will push as close to that limit as they can, some will push a bit too far and get in trouble.
@KislayParashar1@Pirat_Nation Sure but low end NVME drives are both faster and cheaper than SATA drives.
The main advantage of sata drives nowsays is it's easier to stack a bunch of them.
@bookmarkerbot1@skipday_io@CR1337 After making heavy losses, motorola was split into two companies, "motorola soloutions" (enterprise/publiv safety) and "motorola mobility" (consumer, including smartphones)
@davidgburns@davepl1968 I think this is less a math problem and more of an asaumptions problem.
plummer somehow translated "over a thousand" to $2000, I guess he was asssuming the number was in pounds despite the post being in polish.
Then he used what was presumablly an american price for electricity
