#ESHCONFERENCES We got a great wrap up from Lisa McReynolds on genome-first-approach in leukemia diagnosis and characterisation leading to interesting discussions at #ESHBMFS2024#BMFsm#ESHELEARNING
Lisa McReynolds of @NIH investigated prevalence and penetrance of #germline mutations in 8 genes predisposing to myeloid malignancy using genome first approach:
- Higher prevalence than expected 1 in 448-603, DDX41 is most common
- High penetrance for RUNX1, ETV6, GATA2 #ASH24
Love is all around…and so are variants.
Dr. Lisa McReynolds: @NCICancerBio IBMFS/CPS genes may be as prevalent as about 0.2%, with high penetrance. Some of these are associated with higher and/or earlier rates of malignant transformation. We need management guidelines #ASH24
Excited to share my work determining the prevalence and penetrance of eight germline myeloid malignancy predisposition genes has been selected for oral presentation at #ASH24!
After you #vote, check out all the amazing cutting edge topics that will be discussed in December!
The #ASH24 abstracts are live! See the amazing scientific breakthroughs being presented at the ASH annual meeting.

Lisa McReynolds from @NCIEpiTraining shows at the germline predisposition workshop that FA relatives do not have an increased risk of cancer. #ASH23@ASH_hematology@SharonSavageMD
Today we honor Dr. Blanche P. Alter, MD, MPH, of @theNCI, with the 2023 Wallace H. Coulter Award for Lifetime Achievement in Hematology. Her groundbreaking work in inherited #bmfsm syndromes has revolutionized cancer research and patient care. https://t.co/Q6RMJfpz1d #ASH23
Don’t miss Lisa McReynolds, MD PhD at #ASH23 workshop on Germline Predisposition to Hematopoietic Malignancies and BMF on Dec 8, sharing the results of our genome-first population study investigating the cancer risk in people w/ heterozygous FA variants. Paper coming out soon!🧬
Just a week to go until #ASH23! Wanted to let everyone know will be having an education session on #IBMFS with myself, Marena Niewisch, @Olson__Lab where will discuss general #BMFsm diagnostics + particulars of #FA and #TBD. Hope to see you all there ☀️2pm 12/9. @ASH_hematology
