The FCC added foreign-produced advanced robots and connected power inverters to its Covered List, citing cybersecurity risks to US critical infrastructure. New models will generally be barred from receiving FCC equipment authorization unless they receive conditional approval from the federal government.

Back in 2021, AEI’s @ShaneTews explained how the FCC was using the Covered List to keep insecure foreign technology out of American networks. She argued that connected devices, including Chinese-made drones, should face greater scrutiny before they become embedded in critical systems.
