Thank you, @smeurrens and @GarnettGenuis, for repeatedly raising this critical issue and standing up for innocent forced conscripts.
Canada urgently needs clear guidelines to distinguish genuine IRGC members from victims of mandatory conscription. Protecting Canadas national security and protecting innocent people must go hand in hand.
Those who fled Iran’s brutal regime should not have their lives and families destroyed because of the very regime they escaped.

#ConscriptsAreNotMembers
People leave Iran to escape the regime, only to get stuck in limbo for years abroad because of compulsory service from their youth. Punishing immigrants for surviving a system they couldn't avoid makes zero sense.
#JusticeForIranianConscripts#ConscriptsAreNotMembers
Fairness begins with understanding the full story. People should be judged by their own actions, not by circumstances imposed upon them. Their children and families deserve compassion, stability, and a fair chance.
#ConscriptsAreNotMembers@jacquesramsaypl@MarkJCarney
In Iran, military service is mandatory, not a choice. Young men have no say in which branch they’re assigned to. Treating forced conscripts as voluntary regime agents turns victims into targets. Compulsion is not consent.
#JusticeForIranianConscripts#ConscriptsAreNotMembers
Imagine facing deportation because of conscription you were forced to complete. Families in Canada are living with constant anxiety, sleepless nights, and fear of separation. Who is responsible if these people get deported to Iran and get executed?
#ConscriptsAreNotMembers
Families who escaped and spent years building lives here are now stuck because of service they never wanted decades ago. The stress on spouses is brutal. #ConscriptsAreNotMembers
Canada stands for justice, fairness, and human rights. We respectfully ask that these values guide decisions affecting Iranian former conscripts and their families.
#ConscriptsAreNotMembers#JusticeForIranianConscripts
We respectfully urge Immigration Minister @LenaMetlegeDiab to provide clear, fair guidelines for Iranian former conscripts who had no choice in their military assignments. Every case deserves individual assessment. Not blanket refusal.
#ConscriptsAreNotMembers
Canadian courts have recognized that organizational membership requires more than mere presence or association. Iranian conscripts were compelled to serve by law, without meaningful choice, decision-making authority, or a realistic way to refuse or leave. Mandatory service alone should not automatically be treated as IRGC membership. Apply the law fairly and assess each case on its facts.
